This is possibly the most generic looking game I have ever seen. Weak visuals too, it reminds me off the sort of stuff that was clogging up the PC scene 6 or 7 years ago.

Surely people are bored of soldier games now..? Originality please... someone... Team ICO, Platinum Games... save us!

Modern Day Espionage RPG ? hmmm that trailer shows there's nothing modern about it at all. Looks very outdated and it seems it's trying too hard to be a Splinter Cell. We'll see what's RPG about it, so far though, nothing special.

I admit it doesn't look very interesting. But considering people behind this, the story will be it's stronger point.

And about seeing what's RPG, if Mass Effect is a RPG, so this will be.

Dialogue system will be quite similar. As we level up we can improve pistols, hand to hand combat, gadgets etc.

I want to support obsidian, we will see how it goes.

Platinum Games? Really?

The game seems fine. I could use some Mass Effect like RPG...

LOL, I'm like against the general opinion most of the time. I actually thought it looked pretty cool. Other than that, the trailer didn't show too much, as much as it tried. I'd like to see some gameplay, but I like the concept, and what I've seen thus far.

It looks pretty cool to me, though i'm curious about what parts of the game are supposed to be RPG. I jsut have a hard time seeing you spend loads of points on charisma and speech and then just playing "Hans Blix the game", you know? I think this will be pretty light on the RPG elements.

Epic psychodelic win.

Judging from the trailer its going to be action game with character lv-ing up more then anything else. Idea itself is really cool though so we gotta wait for some more gameplay clips.

Platinum Games, who were known as Clover before, have put out some of the most interesting titles anywhere. Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Mad World, and soon Beyoneta. Not bad I'd say. Or would you sooner play Generic Military Game No.8000?

I'd take COD4 over Okami, personally. And over that Flower game. Art games shit me. Like they say, art without meaning is empty. At least COD4 is fun.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I can't say I liked okami either but I'm glad that they tried. At least there was some bloody colour in it. Why do realistic games have to look so bleak?

Horses for courses as the idiom goes I guess. I finished COD4 but found it mostly dull and very repetitive, and I gave up a few hours in to COD5 it was so boring. I also found Gears 2 incredibly boring despite the amazing visuals, and it was the same with Killzone 2.

Okami on the other hand is one of my all time favourites. I don't know why you think it has no meaning, on the contrary, I think it has an excellent and very lengthy story. Far more story than COD in fact. And some great characters too of course. Flower is very different and more of a toy, so I don't think it's fair to compare it to a regular game.

Did you dislike ICO and Shadow of the Colossus too?

Some people are the same, but I dont really see much originality in titles like Bayonetta.
If I were to use the same logic, Alpha Protocol should be completely awesome because some Obsidian guys used to work at Black Isle.

A bit on the fence with this one. It does look weak in the visual department and the whole look and feel of the game screams a poor man's Mass Effect. But Obsidian somehow always manages to come out in the end with an engaging RPG, though flawed as it is.

I don't expect this game to sell well or get a good reception from journalists, but its probably be ok for those of us with a need for an RPG fix. But I have to say, I am disappointed so far.

My biggest concern is whether they will release an unfinished mess like they did with KOTOR2.

if this is similar to mass effect where it's average gameplay wrapped in a great story. then i'm sold.

You don't know just how right you are. When you write an UE3 game you really are just writing simple mods for the engine, you have virtually no power to make any radical changes. There difference in available functionality between a homebrew mod developer and a pro dev on UE3 is minimal.
