Here's a very "better late than never" video, featuring the demo of FromSoftware's Ninja Blade. It was released on the Japanese marketplace a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't been able to capture it until now. The game is a mix of pure action and QTE moments, and it looks and plays pretty good.

Just played the demo myself and it was surprisingly good. Some of the best visuals on the system.

Although the ninja looks suspiciously like Robin the boy wonder it might play well for fans of the hack /slash genre, probably not something I could get into myself though.

the game looks acrualy realy good(also gameplay wise).
but i just hate(there are many other words i would like to use but it would cause me a ban)the main character design.
he looks stupid ,repleasible, lame, and has no charisma at all.

Ninja Gaiden who? This blows Ninja Gaiden out the water! That was some impressive gameplay and graphics if you ask me. Oh and to the guy saying that he's like rambo on speed....It's kinda hard to be stealthy when you're being attacked by a giant spider..don't you think?

Umm...I'll give this the nod with respect to graphics, but better gameplay that NG? I haven't played this, but from what I've seen, this looks laughably slower and less fluid.

Exactly my point. Thanks for that reply.
What I meant was: I would like to see a ninja game that is based around stealth action.
Dunno if FROM-Software has plans for any Tenchu sequels, but i get your point...

I stopped watching after the second quick-time event.. wtf..

Whats the point of having "click-the-right-button!" events when it just resets everytime until you make it? Why not just have it be a normal cinematic, or even better, an actual FIGHT?

Imagine how cool it would have been to fight those flying things while falling down, instead of clickin a button to let the cinematic continue.
Fuckin bullshit :( Why do all damn games have these stupid things nowadays? I hate it.. Its not gameplay, its whack-a-mole with the A B X Y buttons.

The actual normal combat in this game looks cool though. But i'd get so sick of those quick-time events that it doesnt matter. Ruined :(
There was only ONE game that really pulled off the quick-time events, and it was the first and last one to do it right.
Fahrenheit. Nuff said.

I beg to differ. The first game that made it right (and actually invented the term QTE btw) was ShenMue/Dreamcast.

But I second that QTE's don't make any sense (or even less), if they reset the combination with every faulty try ... apart from being the most stupid design choice IMO ...

A: Hey the player has too much fun!
B: Throw in some more QTE's - that'll show him!

Inventing the term QTE doesn't mean they invented them though.

I´ve played the demo and the graphics are quite good. Gameplay wise its OK but its BULLCRAP compared to the depth you can find in NG combat. So please dont make me laugh making that comparison.

QTE's first came around (If I remember correctly) from Sega's Die Hard Arcade. Was a decent game.

Maybe he's not as anal about combat as you, maybe there are other things about games that impress him.

In a hack'n'slash game, the combat is the meat and potatoes of it all, so I'm really not sure how Suil was being anal. g2thecore mentioned both graphics and gameplay.

Well dude, that's my opinion. I don't really like NG, it gets really boring quick. This looks like it will catch my attention for a very long time. It's like a combination of God of War and NG...Laugh if you want....

This game seems like it's trying to make up, for what it lacks in Flashy combat, with QTE's. Ninja Gaiden doesn't have QTE's for the simple reason that it doesn't need any.

Just a sign of incompetence on the side of these devs it seems to me. The, actual realtime, combat doesn't look that bad, but nothing worth getting excited about either. So what do ya do? Throw in ye good ole QTE's...yeah...:|

Too bad it doesn't even compare to an almost 5 year old game running on previous gen hardware. Even more so that that same franchise itself hasn't evolved in those 4 years either...

Don't like it at all. What does this have to do with ninja's? Ninja's are silent assassins. This is Rambo on speed with cheesy dialogue. Well, if you like button mashers, then this is your game I guess.
Ever played Ninja Guiden? lol that hardly seems ninja to me. And Assassin's Creed? Since when do assassins stroll through town wearing an effing UNIFORM that says "I'm a trained killer, see me pull aggro from every single guard I so much as look at"? Its a game lol. Ninja's these days are more about the way they look and the fact that they own things. Besides, would you rather play Tenchu Z? lulzzzz

I have to agree with the post above. You can't compare this game to Ninja Gaiden in terms of gameplay. The demo was really boring.

First, the speed >>> NG is much faster and you really "feel" that you control a ninja

Second, the combat system in the demo >>>> reminds me on Heavenly Sword:

A big and strong but slow sword, 2 katanas with some kind of chains for ranged attacks and another sword which is a good overall weapon. ehrm...well *yaws*

Quick Time Events are nice to watch but it can make easy games even easier and boss fights became stupid routine. ONLY this one way to defeat them (press the A Button in the right moment etc.) >>> no challenge >>> no fun.

The setting is NG2 like, with demons and high tech stuff etc.
Ninja Blades graphics are good, sweet animations too. :)

I know, it was just a demo and the playable level was some kind of tutorial but if this is all what the game can offer, than good night.
IMO the demo was nice to watch but not really nice to play.
