PS3

Sony and Walmart release a new gameplay video (with developer commentary, if I'm not mistaken) of LittleBigPlanet. As pleasing as ever.

Is it me, or does there seem to be bad slowdown in this vid. I'm sure I've seen it running much better than that from earlier videos ?

I didn't really see any slowdown

I'm curious, do things like those ghosts inflict damage on you? Giving you a reason to avoid certain obstacles? I've never seen a player get hit by anything. Or is it you just run through and time is your only enemy

its more a puzzle platformer then anything. you may need to do certain things to progress (as simple as stacking boxed to reach a higher ledge), some things are more timing based where if you time it wrong you'll die. then theres obviously bosses.

I see the slowdown too. The whole game moves in slowmo. I hope this isn't the case in the retail version.

Must be a problem with the vid, I seen it a few days ago and no slowdown in that version.

I'd like to see someone die, or these bosses you mention. It'd certainly give the game more appeal, showing there is more to it then what it is now.

Didn't notice.
Hate the pop up wathever effect they use on the background... detracts from the action on the frontplane.

Video no works :(

Whatever, I have seen it already, and it looks great. Prefer the Amazon one though, showing bosses and better music.

And no slowdown in the one I saw

EDIT: By the way, the ghosts clearly have poisonous gas. So yes you have to be careful of them.

The WMV has problems, audio is kind of fooked and the stream doesn't work.

Game itself looks great graphically, i dont see the slowdown in the vid. I dont think it looks fun in the slightest though, but ive never got why people were excited about it in the first place. I just hope it does well, as it is definately creative and we could use more creativity in the industry.

I'm in the same boat. Creativity and customisation here look great, but the gameplay itself looks a little dull. I can see it being one of those games I spend hours making things with this, but not ever really playing. I'm more excited about Spore and Banjo 3, which at least have an actual game to back up the creation aspects.

But still no word on those pre-order bonuses for the UK? I want the Nariko.

That can be pretty refreshing sometimes with the onslaught of overly complex games nowadays.
It's why Nintendo does so well

Yer, I think thata peopel who dismiss it have no idea of the gameplay.

I want it to play with my friends. The gameplay aspect is boss's, and general platforming. I think Banjo 3 and Spore, both have too much of an agenda to truly be great. They both have creational aspects, but neither can boast the creative and personal freedom there is in LittleBigPlanet.

WANT WANT WANT.

LBP doesn't have an agenda? Of course it does, it's been groomed as a mascot AAA title for ages. As for the rest, let's see how it plays first.

(edit - given the above its also worth noticing its walmart sponsored!)

That may be true about Banjo, but certainly not Spore. Spore is more a contender for goty than LBP

I think the thing is, I want an agenda. I dont want all the creation aspects if there isnt a plot or goal to actually do. Its just my preference. Again, I like the concept and I think its good for gaming, but the idea of creating things and playing through them just doesnt sound like fun to me. Especially in the case of a platformer which I need a story to go though.(even if its shallow. Ratchet, galaxy, and kameo are examples of games I consider platformers and enjoyable)

Its not so much not knowing what gameplay is, its more of me not seeing a lot of people who are casual gamers getting into the game because atleast from my point of view, it lacks focus and looks more like work than a game. This is just what I see now in the title though, im hoping a demo comes out. I do know when I found out it wasnt a PSN game i was very disappointed though, im not sure I see enough to warrant the 7800yen its gonna cost.

Graphics are awesome, it has flair and personality!

Apparently the gameplay seems to appeal to a lot of people so that's fair enough, but I personally don't see it.

Thats like saying that forge in Halo 3 wouldn't last long.

You can create your own levels and crap. Its gunna last really long because either you can a)create loads of levels if your the creative type, b) download new stuff whenever you get bored with the stuff you got if you just wanna play, or both.
