Midway finally releases its internal Blacksite: Area 51 demo, which the press has been able to try for almost a year from now (and it shows in the framerate, that recalls the first games that used the UE3 before the release of Gears of War). The level is extremely short and you won't kill anything but a few aliens, but it's still very cinematic and teaches the basics of the gameplay. To be brief, it's more of a playable teaser than a demo.

it's a teaser that looks freaking cool!
I luve it...it's high on my to buy list
Didn't like one bit of the demo....
i just dont get somepeople these days.
Game has potential. Liked the destructible environments, the frame rate was inconsistent, it would be good at times and bad in the others but i dont read to much into that considering its not gonna be released for a long time. Like how they make the screen shake given you the effect of how powerful the gun is. The ending of the demo was fantastic. Definitely was fighting for the shortest demo in history but it was fun tho. Just fix the frame rate and give it a graphical bump(which it already looks good now) and we good to go.
I think I've said enough. I will reserve my judgement until a new demo of the game but so far, given these facts, the game is looking rather good.

i liked the predecessor but this demo seems just worse in every respect. underpowered weapon, controls that just don't feel right, bad auto-aiming, stupid enemies and technically it's average at best.

C'mon, don't throw it out just yet. Recent examples of games going from "Suck" to much better: Crackdown, Bullet Witch, Forza 2.
I like it. healthy dose of alienistic creatures, destructable environments (and walking through cars!) with pretty awesome character models and some neat in-game cinematics.
They should take a lesson from Silicon Knights. Blacksite Area 51 still has a lot of potential and I, for one, am still excited about this sequel to the very underrated original Xbox game, but unless they're showcasing one or more special features for the game (which could render any other general issue irrelevant), then it would be fine to release footage of an unfinished build. Otherwise, it's a bad idea if you're just trying to give people a general idea of the gameplay. I hope that makes sense, because I'm not bashing the game, only the poor handling of its marketing and showcasing.
