2K Games released a long commented walkthrough video of Bioshock 2. Looking good, as expected.

GOTY already , Sweet . I loved the first and will love this one , also for the same reason , great gameplay great story and sweet graphics. Hope they don't over "RPG" it ... The original was well balanced Shooter/upgrades/tonics/...

Im still a bit worried about that fact that you play as a big daddy. This video also shows it. The player seems to be too powerful against the regular splicers. Dont get me wrong.. loved the first one and when I heard about this sequel I was very sceptical. When the first real video of the action (same as in this one) hit, I was ready to forget that there will be a bioshock 2. This walkthrough got my hopes up a bit.

The style and backdrop of the these two games is fanstastic. However, as a overall experience, I thought the game was vastly overrated. I'm speaking of the original of course. It was a great game, but nowhere near the foundation-setting standard that many reviewers of magazines purported to begin with ( Half-Life 2 it ain't), it's main flaw being that once you coimpleted it, you never felt compelled to actually go back and revisit that amazing setting that was Rapture, which was a great shame, because it's arguably the most realized and imaginative world to have existed in a game to date.

As for this game, it looks as if the graphics have been spruced up somewhat. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it deffinitely looks better than the original. I'm not going to jump and say "GOTY already", because that would be ridiculous. It does look very interesting, though. The thing is, isn't this a prequel rather than a sequel?

i'm getting the strongest feeling of deja vu

@dingleberry - no, this is a sequel...the MP is a prequel...i'd have prefered this game to be a prequel tbh. but either way the games backdrop, as good as it was the first time around...isnt doing anything for me anymore. it feel very lazy to me.

Not really sure what to say, apart from that I'm pretty disappointed.

The first game had me completely mesmerised, but this... it just didn't impress me at all. The atmosphere's still there (I think), the graphics are the same (if not a little bit better), but it just looked dull.

I can't put my finger on it, but maybe the Rapture scene's getting a bit old - I always thought there shouldn't be a sequel/prequel. Also, there seems to be no weight at all to the Big Daddy (who is meant to be extremely heavy, right?); he was almost floating around Oblivion/Fallout 3 style.

Just a big, fat 'meh'.

You play as the first (prototype) big daddy who's much faster than those in the first one.

I think this will be great, can't wait to explore more of rapture and outside of rapture.

I loved the first game and really did think highly of it, but this game looks like its too much of the same thing, just now your even stronger. I will wait a little more until I decide if its a day one purchase. I just wish they did something different than going back to rapture in the same time. A prequel would have been better to see the environment before everything went wrong.

I'm with blmbox on this one, I said the same thing after the first game. A sequel to this game is a bad idea. They need to work on something new, something fresh. I'm really disappointed they went the easy route.

Offcourse you could say the same for any ip, but I just feel the main theme of this game, which is just this feeling of discovering and underwater world, made Bioshock so awesome. That feel is completely gone now as I just feel..."been there, done that!"

Also, playing as a big daddy is a HUGE mistake imo...the animations on him are terrible and the strikes he blows lack any sense of impact...there's no "oomph". I'm still interested as the production values seem spot on and overall it has plenty quality and it looks like fun, but the experience won't be what made Bioshock so fantastic to begin with...

It just more of the same, but with more cool effects and enemies etc.. It's also no wonder it looks almost the same aswell etc, since it still uses the same engine as it has to run on the same (old) hardware (Xbox 360 and PS3)..

But still a very cool game.. The added MP will add a lot of replayability to the game.. Bioshock 1 you played maybe twice (to try both pathes and see both endings), but after that never touched the game again (which is a shame, but that's what happens with SP only games)..

amazing setting....hm, for me Rapture was always some kind of big sewer. The intro in the first game showed a huge underwater town but in-game it was just a big sewer. Pretty boring if you ask me.

must. have. this. game. now! Looks very impressive, and the introduction of the Big Sister does provide a very formidable foe to the Big Daddy. I'm sure the store in Bioshock 2 will be just as interesting as the first.

It might seem like the Big Daddy is all too powerful in the video, but there's no reason to believe that this is the beginning of the game or the middle..

So you might get more simpler plasmids and weapons to start and have to build up to the ones displayed here..

I loved the first one...yet, i kinda get the same feeling others mentioned...deja vu...kinda like the 10000 fists album was...Nevertheless, I have high hopes and standards, i just hope it doesn't fizzle, cause that sometimes happens with sequels to great things (matrix anybody?).

A little too much like the first one, even tho you have a different character with new abilities...Still I wish they would have gone back and made it a prequel instead. Maybe in Bioshock 3, will still enjoy this tho.

Methinks if you didn't like the first game, you're not going to find anything in the second..

Can't shake-off the idea technicality wise that water being this much emphasized in this game, and still its only texture deep. its not 3D water, or even algorithmically physics based. no ripples, no wave generation... nothing. I bet its the same UE3 limitation. moreover this game isn't much different looking than Bioshock 1.

But even even being only textures, the real time reflections in water are drop-dead gorgeous. I must say, they put a great effort into this. a parallax or normal-mapped texture that reflects environment in real time... WOW INDEED!

I didn't like the first game either, but if this scores well (which is probably will) I'll give it a shot eventually... cause I'm like that. They need to cut out the backtracking and give us more freedom in exploration. The first game kinda advertised that with all these powers you had it would be like an FPS sandbox, choosing your own method of combat, setting traps etc, but in the end it was still too linear to really get anything out of it. Rapture city is a great idea, and the art style was unique, I think they could really do something with it if only they'd open it up and really let us explore and choose our own paths...

Think Fallout 3 but in Rapture, that sums it up pretty well. All of the separate buildings, shops, businesses, homes... and entering each one isn't a simple A to B affair but a multi-roomed multi-path affair.
