Castle of Illusion came out about a month ago and we didn't really have time to talk about it. Well, that's not the only reason why we had to wait actually. The PC version was frame-locked at 30 fps when the game was released so we decided we wouldn't capture any gameplay footage until someone found a way to unlock it. It eventually happened but then we got so busy with the new releases that we couldn't take care of it before today. Hopefully, you'll forgive the long delay and enjoy our 1080p/60fps videos.
Verdict
Castle of Illusion's main problem is that it is too short, even though this new edition of the all time classic is a bit longer than the original. Length aside, the developers of Sega Australia have really pulled it off, although the PC port is strangely locked at 30 fps - which can however be arranged by using a tweaked exe of the game. You can tell these guys are real fans of the Genesis title and that's clearly why it hasn't lost the magic of the original game. That being said, only you can decide whether or not it deserves its price tag. Some will probably think nostalgia is worth a few bucks, others will claim it's too much for 2 to 3 hours of gameplay. As for us, we had great fun playing Castle of Illusion and we were happy to see that it clearly did not sully the good name of its ancestor, quite the contrary.

Just had the chance to play it today and just love it ! Feel and atmosphere is spot on!
Reminds of the classic and feels so new and fresh at the same time !
Price is ok for me,as I was used to pay 100$ for a new SNES or Mega Drive Card back in the day !
Not sure why people think these games are less worth then others !
2D games are as hard to make as 3D !
Play time might be short, but thats how those games are ! Do not use Continues and test your skills ! But must admit, its kinda easy game !
Still...just can recommend it and hope this continues and Sega brings more classics back in this way !
Bravo !
