We've been busy lately, and it's going to get worse in the weeks/months to come. Today, we're going to tell you a bit about Devil's Third, a game which was first announced back in 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3 but finally became a Wii U exclusive when Nintendo replaced THQ as a publisher. We were able to get the game early to review it, so as usual you'll find the full article on the French side. Our verdict and the videos are inside if the only French you can do with your tongue is kissing.
Verdict
As a single player experience, Devil's Third is a disappointing game that you probably shouldn't play if all you want is to play on your own. Surprisingly enough, when it comes to multiplayer, Itagaki's new game actually manages to shine and can even become quite memorable in its own way. There is indeed a lot more pace and fun when playing online, but you'll still have to deal with the dated visuals. Thankfully, contrary to the solo mode, multiplayer is much smoother, which adds to the overall dynamism of the combat system. Devil's Third is quite an odd title in the end, it's a huge disappointment when it comes to the single player experience, but it is saved by its multiplayer mode. Against all odds, some might say.
- On the plus side
- Very dynamic multiplayer
- Great character customization in multiplayer
- Switching between close combat and gunfights
- Dismembering people!
- On the down side
- Dull single player experience
- Technically outdated
- Controls aren't always very precise
- Problematic respawn system
