We received a copy of Killzone: Mercenary a few weeks ago and as usual, because we're always so busy and the team small, we haven't been able to translate our full review for you guys. That being said, we wouldn't you to feel left out, so you're getting all our homemade screenshots, our off-screen gameplay footage and most importantly our verdict. Everything's inside so what are you still doing here?
Verdict
Killzone: Mercenary is clearly worth your money if you own a Playstation Vita. It looks fantastic and plays just as well as the PS3 episodes, which proves once again that first person shooters have their place on a handheld. Story-wise, don't expect to deliver something as strong and immersive as titles like BioShock Infinite or The Last of Us, but if you like action games you won't be disappointed. It's just a shame that the melee attack are so cheated, making the game way too easy at times in normal mode. Other than that, you pretty much get the same experience as you'd expect from a first person shooter on PS3 or Xbox 360, which is impressive to say the least. The single player campaign is rather short as it took us about 6 hours and a half to reach the end but there is replayability to unlock all the weapons and armors, to complete the challenges which unlock after completing the game, etc. And there's multiplayer, which is also great fun from what we could see (we could only play the beta. In short, Killzone: Mercenary is a great action game for the Vita and the fans will be pleased, but on a more personal note, we think there is still something missing to make it memorable in the long term.
