The announcement of The Last of Us Part II Remastered came as a real surprise for everyone considering the PS4 version had been patched for free to run at 60 fps a while ago. Other than the added new content, namely The Lost Levels (and new commentary) and the No Return mode, there isn't much to justify a second purchase, even if you still own the original game and it only costs $10 to get the PS5 upgrade. There are certainly a few differences in terms of graphics if you use a x10 zoom to compare both versions, but overall, it's hard to stop them when playing normally. As you'll see in our screenshots and our video, the current gen port seems darker than the PS4 game running on PS5. In Quality mode, it's nice to finally be able to play at 4K with VRR and 120 Hertz support, but it's a bit of a shame to see that the Performance mode is stuck at 1440p as on PS4 Pro. This sequel is still a must play mind you, but we fail to see the justification for this new version.
