Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has confirmed final preparations are underway for a return to the magical world of Balandor as White Knight Chronicles™ II charges onto PlayStation®3 (PS3™) in May 2011. And for those who want to find out more about how the legend began, a simultaneous launch has been unveiled for the very first PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) title in the series, White Knight Chronicles™: Origins.
White Knight Chronicles II on PS3
Developed by acclaimed Japanese studio LEVEL-5 Inc., White Knight Chronicles II takes us back to the magic-infused kingdom of fantasy, swordplay and myth. Follow intrepid adventurer Leonard on a brand new voyage set one year on from his original adventure, and master a dynamic new combat system. Choose the way you play with a fully-customisable White Knight, and plan your own strategies and attacks as you progress through over 30 hours of single player gameplay. And with unlimited online play, the adventure never stops. Create a team of up to six people and take on co-op quests or free-roam together across the land meeting friends and creating guilds. Furthermore a fully remastered version of the original White Knight Chronicles will be included on the disk. Players can choose to start the story from the very beginning, or jump straight into White Knight Chronicles II.
White Knight Chronicles: Origins on PSP
The quest goes portable when White Knight Chronicles: Origins debuts on PSP. Developed by celebrated handheld RPG gaming experts Matrix Corp., delve into a whole new world of mystery set 10,000 years before the events of the original White Knight Chronicles. In the middle of a world at war, this time you’ll be fighting the towering Knights of the Yshrenia instead of playing as them. Battle the knights on your own or play with up to three friends online, trading quests and characters.
The most versatile RPG ever to hit a console, immerse yourself in a world of fantasy both online and offline with White Knight Chronicles for PS3 and PSP. Are you ready to live the legend? Find out more at www.eu.playstation.com

Obviously some people enjoyed this game despite all the negative anti-Sony hype that accompanies PlayStation 3 exclusives your opinion is very limited to you.
Also it should be worth while thinking even though its a different genre, the first Street Fighter game was not all that popular and it took years before an actual sequel was made that became the huge hit so many people think about, if Capcom had used your logic we never would have had a SFAlpha/III/IV or Marvel Capcom, etc.
Also "Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy did not really do that great in terms of sales outside of Japan (the US market) for many years the majority of the people in charge held the belief of not bothering with promoting or putting too much faith into the console RPG genre, if again Square had used your logic Final Fantasy VII might have been another game that would have met the same fate instead of ushering so many copy cats.
I admit I did not buy WKC 1 mostly due to money, my friend did and he enjoyed it, we can always forgive a game dev for making their first game no matter how bad because their next will always improve, I will get this game as well as Sega's Valkrye Chronicles another under appreciated original non-Final Fantasy franchise RPG.
