PS3

The futuristic racing videogame Wipeout HD, an exclusivity of the Playstation Network (PSN) from the Playstation 3 now has these new images. It offers 60fps and 1080p output. This downloadable title remakes some tracks from previous titles in the series rather than create some and adds high definition plus online functionnalities to the whole package. I LOVE wipeout 2097, the other titles i don't really care about. But this...this might just be interesting enough to warrant a buy. Looks pretty nice at least.

Look sweet is ment play like Pure/Pulse on the PSP which is cool as they are the best wipeouts since 2097.

The only question I have is, is this the PS3 wipeout? or will there be a full fat bluray wipeout in the future?

This series is garbage IMO. I have played both Wipeout games on PSP. The craft are uncontrollable, I keep losing all races and its just not any fun.

Its all about nostalgia IMO, this will bomb big time

I really don't agree. Wipeout 2097 was a really sweet game. Af for pure and Pulse i have no idea, but i can say that i did not much care for wipeout 3 or the one released on PS2 (can't remember what it was called). But Wipeout and 2097 were sweet games. If you keep crashing in them it's your fault, they aren't bad games because you don't understand how the ships handle.

2 main things I am apprehensive about : 1. Not a 'full' Wipeout game, it's probably going to be a fairly costly downloadable game, but it's using old tracks, and probably old gameplay elements too. 2. No Cold Storage music, at least that's what I hear. Some of the other songs that have appeared in WipEout games were decent, but Cold Storage IS Wipeout for me, and has made so many great songs.

Man, I didn't care anything about this game. That is, until I saw that screenshot of the track in the clouds high above mountains. Now I want everything to do with this game.

are you for real?
the controls take skill, the psp wipEout games are brilliant games, i actually rate them on almost the same level as 2097.
Half the issue as that people try to play wipEout as a driving/car game, but the vehicles in this game are not cars, they aren't restricted by wheels. take this in to account and use the track to your advantage. wipEout games have one of the most contollable, fluid contols schemes devised.
just an addition, i never lose races or crash very often. if you can't play it then you just lack skill.

I hate games like this. Sometimes you end up playing through an entire level without blinking. Very bad for the eyes.

Bad for the eyes, but totally fun! Yeah, kakashi, the people that hate this series either didn't give it enough time or just can't play it well.

the visuals aren't extraordinary. personally, i would have taken 720p and either 60 or 30 fps over 1080p/60 so the visual experience could have been more detailed.

wipeout is definitely the best game of its type though and i'm waiting for something in the ps3 world to capture my interest. i've always loved wipeout's intensity, speed, fluidity, and the soundtracks

It's a PSN game....Do you want to download a 7GB game just because you want prettier textures?
Not everyone is on ultra super speed internet.

Been playing the series since PS1 and it's the only racing game I bother playing (and a bit of GT now and then, not a big racing fan).
Day one purchase as well, hope to see you all in the game :)

I hope this plays more like Wipeout XL or 2097 and less like Wipeout Fusion (PS2). Man I hated the PS2 game with a passion.
