Xbox 360 PS3

Activision and Raven released three videos showing each one class of enemies in Wolfenstein: The "standard" Nazis, the Heavy Trooper and the Despoiled. A game that can look great at times, and quite average at others.

just already looks so dated. I'd buy it if i didnt already own this game in the form of the previous wolfenstein.

They need to sort out the bad screen tearing too (developers seem to of erased popup with screen tearing this generation)

WW2 is just all too familiar territory now and the whole Nazis and the occult angle is pretty well documented as well. I think the Wolfenstein franchise is fast becoming a victim of its own period limitations, there is really only so far the whole killing nazis can go and I think they should have moved it more into the present a bit. Maybe a newly created genetically engineered reich in the modern day...

Erm...NO!

Wolfenstien has it's own unique charm and style that no other WW2 shooter has ever got near, and it just shouldn't be tampered with. There is a certain mystique about WW2 and the Nazi occult that Wolfenstien just manages to capture so perfectly with it's theme and addicting gameplay. The original (remake) is easily one of the best FPS's ever made, and it's because of it's unique theme, it remains to be so to this day IMO. The graphics in this game may be somewhat dated, but who gives a shit if it manages to recapture the feeling of the original.

i agree. wolfenstein is the exception to rule when it comes to WW2 FPS's. the direction it takes sets it appart from COD or MoH. it isnt limiting itself with historical accuracy, it's taking a theme and going crazy with it, and thats what i loved about return to castle wolfenstein. it took the "seen it all before" setting, and twisted it on it's head.

this game does look incredibly dated tho, but i'll definately give it a go. seems like a perfect rental.

every game's a perfect rental. That's what renting is for; to determine if you want to buy it or not.

What I'm seeing is, you want to rent it, beat it, and never see it again.
Way to support.

hell yeah, i'm not suporting a developer that create half assed dated games (this, riddick etc). as good as the PREMIS of wolfenstein may be be, its no excuse to make a game that looks like ass.

my money is reserved for the highly polished, great exclusives like mass effect, uncharted etc. everything else it's a rental.

i never said i dont like them. i said they where half assed and dated. there has only been 1 game i refuse to rent and thats banjo 3, after the demo i think i'd rather drive 6 inch nails through my penis.

90% of games this gen fall into that 7/10 brackett, not good enough to buy, not bad enough to ignore. the ones that fall below that line i'll MAYBE rent for achievements. but i will NOT pay £40 on a game you can complete in 4 hours and then will never play again. i find it kinda sad that people are willing to do that tbh. they either have money to burn or have a few scews loose.

all it does is encourage developers to release half assed games becasue they know some poor chump will buy it. i'm not one of them, i used to be. but i saw the error of my ways. £18 to play 10+ games a month is better then paying £200+ a month on games you'll never touch after completion.

who is "them"? I'm talking about Wolfenstein.

I'm sure if you went to rent a game to see if it was any good and you beat it the first day, that game isn't worth buying, obviously.

But, you are saying it's only worth a rental now, so apparently you've played some of it and determined it isn't worth buying.

lovefilm

£18 a month, 3 games at any one time. takes 3 days to get a new game, from posting it back to lovefilm to getting the new one through your letterbox. free postage too. the last year i have played SO many games, litterally 10 games or more a month. and i play all those games while paying less then i would if i bought even a 10th of them.

i still buy the games i really want or really like the look of (this year it's been killzone 2 so far) but everything else i get to play without forking out £40 a pop. it's a win/win situation for me. sure the developers/publisher lose out on getting my money, but majority of the time they dont deserve it anyway. i get to try out the crap i'm currious about (say, 50 cent blood on the sand for example) without commiting to it (or suffering the embarrasment of buying such a game)

as i said, i'm not willing to suport a game that looks like this. some developers put blood, sweat and tears into their work, be it killzone 2, gears of war 2, uncharted, mass effect. they have this added layer of poliosh that shows how much they care about what they do. and i dont see it with this.

at the end of the day, if you rent a game, there is very little point in buying it. because 99% of games now can be completed in 2 days MAX, and with the unlimited plan i have for lovefilm, even if it takes longer i can keep it for however long i want.

people can try to justify paying £40 a game all they want, but at the end of the day, compared to renting, it makes no sense what so ever. the benefits of renting far outweigh the benefits of buying.

as you yourself said, every game is the perfect rental, this included. only i dont see the reason to buy it once you complete it. why would you.

EDIT : and as i said earlier, it's one of those games that looks good, but not good enough to buy, but not bad enough to completely ignore, THAT is what makes a perfect rental in my eyes.

games like mass effect and killzone 2 ARE good enough to buy

games like banjo 3, ARE bad enough to ignore.

imo of course.

What I meant was every game is in a perfect position to be rented and tested before a person decides to buy it.

Why is this game so perfect for a rental though, aside from beating it and leaving it?

edit oh, so it's good enough to play through, as long as you only have to pay 5 bucks?

that's all I was asking.
Glad you've played through for us too! That's mighty kind.

read the edit above

doesnt look good enough to buy, doesnt look bad enough to ignore = perfect rental.

but it's just my views on the matter, some may LOVE the wolfenstein series, and actually think this game looks like the best FPS in the world (case in point, grift loved FEAR, i didnt think it was worth anything beyond a rental), and who am i to stop them thinking that, but for ME personally. it doesnt look like more then rental material.

if i had money to burn i'd buy every game in existance just because i could. but that isnt the case. i have to be selective, and fact is, games like killzone 2 or uncharted take priority over something like wolfenstein. just personal preference based on the games level of polish.

that guy... such a drama queen.

Rentals meen shit about the quality of a game. Rentals mean buying a bad, average, or really Good game, that you can complete in a couple of days and has no kind of replay value or incentive to play again.

CoD4 would be a Fucking rental... if it didn't had on of the best multiplayers ever.
Portal is a GOTY... doen't mean it's nothing more than a rental.

*hands korndog 2 inch nails =P* (sorry couldnt resist) and korndog...this is history in the making, ignoring the whole renting rant between you and ya buddy here, I actually AGREE....YES AGREE!!! with you on this one. Going by the previous wolfenstein it's sure to be a fun game and I love the nazi experiment premise and the art style (although not too keen on the sky changing green) but to be honest you can tell they haven't put their soul into making this an overall quality title.
