Black Bean Games has decided to bring mythical cars from the Group B to its upcoming rallye game, WRC. But to drive such legends as 205 T16 or R5 Maxi Turbo, you'll have to pay 4,99 €/400MS Points to get the DLC, which will be released at the same time as the game, on October 8th. Press Release:
London August 31st 2010 – WRC, the official game of the 2010 FIA World Rally Championship, developed by Milestone and published by Black Bean Games, not only gives petrol heads and racing gamers alike the chance to compete as the stars of the WRC in all the classes and cars of the 2010 season, but also offers exclusive content to expand your garage even further.
An additional cars package features some of the most glorious and iconic models of the eighties, from the legendary Group B era. Group B cars were the dominant force in the FIA World Rally Championship between 1982 and 1987 and the add-on pack will be downloadable from October 8th 2010, the date of the game’s release.
This add-on will be available for Xbox®360 and PlayStation®3 through the Marketplace of XboxLive and Playstation®Network respectively, for 400 points and 4,99 Euros. The PC version of the game will also include this exhilarating DLC.
Discover some of the fastest, most powerful and sophisticated rally cars ever built: the Peugeot 205 T 16, Lancia Delta S4, Ford RS200, Citroën BX4 TC and Renault R5 Maxi Turbo. Each of these cars will have two different liveries, making a total of ten designs. The raw power of these beasts with the most infamous reputation in rally history will enrich the 18 official cars brought to you by Black Bean Games in the standard package:
WRC
Citroën C4 WRC
Ford Focus 09 WRC
Ford Focus 08 WRC
Subaru Impreza WRC 07
S-WRC
Abarth Grande Punto S2000
Ford Fiesta S2000
Škoda Fabia S2000
Peugeot 207 S2000
P-WRC
Subaru Impreza N4
Mitsubishi Lancer X
Mitsubishi Lancer IX
J-WRC
Suzuki Swift S1600
Citroën C2 S1600
Renault Clio R3
Honda Civic R3
Ford Fiesta R2
Citroen C2 R2
Suzuki Swift R2
What's worse is that the game only comes with 18 cars. Sad, when other games offer hundreds of cars in the main game, and even WITH the DLC, you only have 36. That's their choice, I guess, but I won't be supporting that kind of BS. ...
LOL, how dumb are they? Not only do they tell everyone that they take content out of the game to release it as DLC, they include the cars in the PC version? I loved Screamer but won't buy this because I don't like being ripped off.
Ok, I see some very negative atitudes here. So I'm going to be positive.
Considering how long it's been since we've had a game purely about rallying, I'm looking forward to this. Group B cars are certainly welcome, since they are a great aspect of the history of rallying and I will likely get this DLC at launch. For those who complain about there being DLC on launch day, what's the problem? Is it any different than any other day? It certainly isn't and Milestone isn't the first developer to have DLC announced before release. Turn 10 did the same with Forza 3 and lots of people still got the game and the DLC anyway. As for it being paid (in contrast to Forza 3's free launch DLC), you have to think of the Group B cars as being Premium content, in other words, pay extra to upgrade your game to a Special Edition, whose bonus is the Group B cars. Again, this has been done before with NFS Pro Street and Undercover with their collectors edition upgrades.
Extra Note: I don't think the PC version will have Group B cars on the disk. What they're saying is that the PC version will also have the content available for download, which you'll still have to pay for.

Oh I see what you did there. That was great! LMAO!! You're hilarious!!! Wait................................................................................................................OMG....................You were seriously defending this disgraceful business practice?!? Woops.
Better luck next time Black Bean. Guess I'll be waiting for Dirt 3.

Posted by KORNdog man, what shitty options. you either admit defeat and get ripped off by black bean, or you play an aracedy peice of shit "rally" game.
i chose option 3. dont buy either.
I'd rather choose option 4 and buy a new Rallisport Challenge but apparently that dream is dead and buried.
If we keep supporting devs doing this stupid shit, they will keep doing it. This is NOT a trend I want to see evolve. Games now days are already short on content and replay value.
Isn't dlc more like stuff they didn't manage to put into the game before its release AND stuff they made later on to extend the game experience? Then it would make sense. But this way they can just make the whole game, then cut it in half, release one half as a full game for full money and then the other half as a dlc for it's own price. If they have the stuff ready why not just put it into the game? Therefore yes, dlc on launch day and dlc any other day is different.
And other companies doing the same thing doesn't really change anything. Two lefts don't make right.

i'm still hoping GT5 will offer an option 3..it seems to offer as much Rally content as the retail version of this game

Except that Forza actually has HUNDREDS of cars. This game comes with 18. Forza had the content to justify a full price( hell there was so much shit in there you had to load 4 gigs of stuff to your hard drive to play it all). 18 cars is laughable. How many tracks?
