I really don't think this style fits ninja gaiden well at all.

i think this looks awesome. and it's the only time i've been able to say that about the franchise. not going to buy it though, it's a bit too style over substance...even if that style is so damn....stylish.

Fighting clowns and zombies? With silly ass animations around the border and cartoon like movements? Ugh. I guess taste is painfully subjective.
And here I thought DMC always suffered from being the most annoying action game. Looks like NG wants to be even more appealing to that crowd.

Definitely does not. It even looks like it plays like rough.

I don't understand how one man's influence can become so glaring after his departure?

It was a sad day when I had to hang up the Ninja Gaiden scarf, I didn't want to, but the series took too much of a nosedive to be respectable, and it seems to have just come into eye contact with the bottom through Yaiba.

I guess for unadulterated action, I'll have to stick to the new Holy Trinity of action games:

Metal Gear Rising
Bayonetta
Castlevania

For me, there is no good action game left. Ninja Gaiden was hitting all the right notes from pace, character style, combat style, mechanic...but after NG3, no. NG3 RE had fantastic combat animations that was way better than any other NG before it (except Ultimate Technique was leaps better in NG2).

But all in all, this is NOT Ninja Gaiden, even if they label it as such to draw in the fans.

Yeah, the only thing I hated about NG: RE (after only playing the demo) was that in order to play the harder levels successfully, you had to go repeat the same moves over and over again and that was just painfully boring.

Yaiba looks like it'll be funny, sort of 70's Kung Fu story funny I guess.

I agree Sath, while bayonetta had good gameplay the awful style killed it for me. I haven't truly loved an action game in this genre since NG sigma/NG black. Castlevania was ok but nothing amazing.

Pretty much.
Only thing good NG2 had was the combat which IMO loved the best, but interms of design and all that, NG1 definitely.

And i agree, Bayonetta killed it for me. The art and style the character had went into the combat which i didnt like.
And Metal Gear Rising is a joke to me lol

The thing that impresses me most about Rising is not the counter system, or the precision with which you can chop stuff, but, given the development hell it went through, Platinum Games still managed to churn out a widely reviewed 8/10 game that I have put over 100 hours in.

Hell, some companies spend years hiring top quality film talent and rendering top end graphics and are still only able to churn out 7/10 mediocrity on their own projects. To me? That says a lot. Not many companies can accomplish what Platinum did with Rising.

Hayashi can't even make one good Ninja Gaiden game from the ground up without Itagaki, and thinks giving it a different visual style will hide the fact that the gameplay is completely mediocre, and that is a generous statement.

wow this looks damn LUSH!!
And NO its not an NG game...
Its better doing this than try to continue the actual NG series.
NG died when Itakagi past it to the 'Student's'
Team Ninja can just play ideas based on Itagaki's vision and this looks cool indeed.
Well Done
