Trailer PS3

Sega sent us this trailer of Yakuza 3, which be released soon for us Westerners. It will obvisouly be confronted with a few big bockbusters in March but I'm pretty sure Japan lovers will not miss such an exotic adventure.

Does anyone remember what Toshihiro Nagoshi used to look like? He used to look like a nice, ordinary, friendly guy. Now he looks like a drug dealing pimp with shares in a tanning salon. If I saw him on the street, I'd run a mile.

He'd catch up to you on his newly built hover board (from japanese Ryu ga Gotoku money) and cause you to wipe out. Prolly slam you with a suspiciously pronounced "cowabunga!" too.

Nagoshi rocks.

He does kind of look like a hipster douche though. Then again, i couldn't care less if the game is good ;)

I refuse to believe that the creator of Super Monkey Ball is a douche, but I'll admit to there being some trippyness that backs up drug claims. :D

it's funny that he (and the people who use this as promotion video) doesn't seem to be aware of the fact, that here in the west it's taboo to say (not literal)"I made the game because I know if I make it like this it'll sell well", hehe

he should've said "I made it according to my vision and hope other people will appreciate that vision" or sth. along the lines ^^

Yeah, enough of sophisticated crime novel narrative and compelling, dynamic combat interwoven with substantial sub-quests and diversions. Bring back token revenge story and driving forklifts!

Seriously dude, play a Yakuza game.

Yeah i really don't understand the infatuation a large part of the gaming community seems to have with Shen Mue. It was cool and novel for its time but that's about it :P Yakuza is better by far imo.

Yeah. Yes. I have been kinda treading lightly around the subject because I know people have a really special bond to Shenmue because of when it appeared and what it meant at the time. I mean I'm that person! I'm totally the crushed Sega fan with Saturn/Dreamcast background here. But really, this incessant behavior of using Yakuza as a springboard for canned Shenmue proclamations has stripped me of humility entirely.

Yakuza is a more streamlined, more satisfying, better written game on all accounts, and the shit it has to put up with is grating. The real kicker is that most people who keep re-iterating the Shenmue 3 thing have never played a Yakuza game and prolly will never do so either! It's literally just a reflex response, like a fucking parrot.

Now in all fairness Yakuza 1 isn't exactly easy to get hold of and Yakuza 2 never made it to the US so i can understand that it's not the biggest game around, but i still agree. If you like Shen Mue just get a damn copy of Yakuza.

You're thinking of Shenmue 2, Megido. That got a pal release on Dreamcast with japanese speech and english subtitles. Wasn't released in the states until the Xbox version.

I just want to remember there being debate about Yakuza 2 when the PAL version finally arrived over here but i guess i got it mixed up. I don't think i mixed it up with Shen Mue 2 though, i didn't even know that the DC version was not released in the US :P

Well, Yakuza 2 was announced for europe before the US, just like Yakuza 3 was rumoured for europe but not US. Sega/"foreign" games have an easier time here, especially in the UK where the love for Sega still has Sonic related games setting the charts ablaze.

Same week at least. Is it the same crowd though? I mean, i would imagine that the people buying Yakuza are not the same people who buy FFXIII. And perhaps it's just me but i somehow doubt that FFXIII will have the same impact that the series has had previously? The jrpg fans still seem evangelical about it but i don't sense all that much buzz from other directions?

you know the thing with sequels? .. they tend to evolve.

Besides which, i loved shenmue 1 and 2 on the dreamcast. I know, crazy huh? You're just going to have to get over it love.

I don't think he has much issue with you liking shen mue as much as all the shen mue tards always coming in to Yakuza threads blaring out their shen mue love. I don't think i've seen a single Yakuza related thread witout a least a few "Screw this, bring the Shen Mue instead!!!1one!" posts and it does get tiring.

i only mentioned shenmue because sega have been talking about it this week.. teasing they would work on it if it was funded as an exclusive.

Crying because people mention a game thats got links to this one, and then calling them "shen mue tards", seems abit retarded to me. But oh well.

And it's Shenmue.. not Shen Mue ... writing it like that is not exactly helping you to seem less retarded when labelling gamers "shen mue tards". Just for future reference dear.
