Demo mostly highlights the new moves and stuff over previous entries. I imagine it must be really difficult for a newcomer to the series to even get much out of the demo, because it basically dumps you in a fight and expects you to know what you're doing.
So, if you've played 1 and 2 it's a great demo, and if you haven't, chances are you'll be raped by the first boss and not really know what you did wrong.
Yeah i agree with Simon. For someone who never played any of the other games it'll probably just be confusing. I think Yakuza is a game that is hard to demo as well since, at least for me, the big hook is the story and characters, which you really don't get a feel for at all in a short demo like this.
I guess what i'm trying to say is something like this: Don't let the demo scare you away from the full game, as i can almost guarantee that the full game will be more enjoyable :)
And that said, the demo is a playground if you know your Yakuza combat. There is some inssAAAaaane stuff you can pull off if you know your way around the combo strings and if you know how to prod around the new Heat moves.

i just said it for the comedic value because some people here get their knickers in a twist when you mention it.
I would definatly buy it though so i could complete the trilogy...weither it'd be a good game or not i don't know. I'd like to think it would add something of it's own to this gen like it did to the previous.
Actually a Shenmue 3 would likely to fail as with many other relaunch games. Often you get people saying how much they would love for a new entry in a series but end up thinking its crap after realising its not what it once was.
Take AvP, its pretty much exactly the same as the old games, but yet look at the reviews.

SF was never dead though, people have been playing SF2 and 3 for ages, and still are. Those old games have attracted new players over he years, something i don't think ShenMue has to the same extent.
thats true.. i was just thinking in terms of a new entry in a franchise after a significant gap, and how they can be polished and fullfill expectations.
I think the biggest complete with AvP was the fact that it hasn't evolved.. it looks already dated...and that lack of polish carrying over into the gameplay.
But there was alot of buzz and interest around AvP because it was an IP that people missed, and had fond memories of.

There's your answer. Shenmue freaks, for whatever reason, have already made up their mind that Shenmue 3 is worth buying.
Everyone else is waiting not only to see if it will happen, but if it is worth happening.

Wow, this sure aint a game for me. I tried watching a few gameplay vids without rolling on the floor of laughter, but I just couldn't. It's just way too goofy for me. Also, the lack of spoken dialogue is terrible. It's all just...typical Japanese awkwardness in a videogame....yuck!

No, new does not mean instant win. But perhaps if you dare look beyond not all dialogue being voiced, perhaps you'd find something good. Both Yakuza 1 and 2 are great games, and i have no doubt that part 3 will be good as well. I think you are judging the game on rather silly points. Not saying that you have to like every game, but at least give them a shot. I don't like SFIV, i still bought it and played it enough to form an opinion ;)

I see your point, but I have watched quite a few videos of this game to know I won't like it. Also, when I said new doesn't equal good, I didn't mean to say this game won't be any good, but that I won't find it good (just to clarify).
I love new experiences, I'm all for them. Games like BGAE are just far to rare for my liking. But, there are certain games I just can't stomach, and this is one of them.

this is a rental for me now tbh. i heard they've cut the whole dating sim shit out of it, which isnt so much of an issue, but i heard there is a lot of content attatched to it which kinda sucks.
i'm looking forward to playing it, but FF13 is the only other game i'll be buying in march alongside GOW3.
