I'm no fan of it either i must say. More traditional Japanese music would be more appropriate. Otherwise it looks good.

I think the fact that the series started in modern day times and has gone back into the past - I dunno, something about it being Japanese hip-hop just seems to fit with it for me!

Does the video take a god-awful long time to load for anybody else? This is ridiculous.

I have to say, I really liked the first Yakuza game, although it didn't play very smooth I really liked the rough fighting. Now that the series has gone in to the past (Japan 1500?) I can't say I like it, really liked the Tokyo mobster vibe from the first game :) I'd rather play Yakuza 2 (which hasn't been released outside Japan) then Yakuza 3 :). So, statement made :D

My imported version of this has shipped. The demos weren't too amazing, but I think the variety in the full game will be amazing (based on the videos I've seen).

The camera is really bad. The player seems to have problems judging the distance from enemies when they come from below the screen. And with all the sliding doors and walls, it's impossible to see anything. Looks like there's plenty of awful surprise attacks to be had, just because of the camera.

I honestly think Yakuza is awesome. I've played the first game three times and I think it's one of Sega's all time strongest titles. The RPG/brawler blend is absolute genious, especially if you WANT to go back to days of Streets of Rage but would miss the production values and sophisticated stories of modern games, aswell as a real sense of progression in the form of RPG elements.

I think it's equally fantastic an idea to have the protagonist Kazuma Kiryu be timeless, enabling him to star both in a modern mobster story and in a samurai story in feudal japan.

As a long time Sega fan I don't often get to be genuinely enthusiastic about stuff they make anymore, but Yakuza is a burst of Jet Set Radio style bliss for me. I applaud its consistently superb reception in japan (10, 9, 9, 9 for this) and its brilliant sales, and I hope to continue following Kiryu in plenty more sequels, wherever Amusement Vision decides to send him.

Now, how about a solid date for Yakuza 2, Sega?

the guy he fights in the second vid is possibly the most cheap, annoying characters i've seen. he just keeps doing the same shit over and over. lame. prefer the style of the first tbh. modern day tokyo. this just doesnt interest me, especially after the demo.

I guess I'm the only one that thought the gameplay in the second video looked absolutely abysmal.

Seriously, that reminded me of games on the PS1. The constant repeating attacks (and more annoyingly, attack sounds, ie. that guy that kept making that squealing sound) just looked shoddy.

Graphics were alright, but again, nothing to get excited at.
