Microids sent us a preview demo of Yesterday Origins, to be released on September 29 on PC, Xbox One and PS4. The demo includes the first 2 chapters of the game and introduces the player with the gameplay mechanics. Those familiar with point and click games will obviously feel right at home, though you won't only need to combine items this time. Indeed, some combinations will require matching clues to motivate the character to do associate the selected objects. It is then very important to learn some information about what's going on, by talking to other characters for example. We'll tell you more about the game in our August podcast, which will hopefully be recorded sometime this week.
Note: Although the developers claim the game is best played with a gamepad (the irony when you think of it), we used the mouse as our wireless 360 controller was not recognized.

It will be set in both the past and the present (present time will be after the events in Yesterday). I don't know if Yesterday Origins will have a recap of the major events in Yesterday, but usually Pendulo Studios' games have a recap at the beginning.
Still, it might be worth checking out Yesterday, as it is very cheap now and one can see if they like the series enough to buy a second game.
Looking forward to this by the way, Pendulo Studios is great.
