EA has released on Youtube the extended E3 gameplay demo of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which shows among other things a look at the planet hopping system and the Metroid-inspired map. Game Director Stig Rasmussen posted a letter along with the video that gives a bit more insight. Respawn's game will be out November 15.

Things like planet hopping, that wave after wave of enemies where you could play with the powers and test them as you see fit, the fact that it's a Metroid game and that you can access any planet in any order you want, learning new abilities will allow to reach deeper and new areas in the planets.
Basically, EA and Respawn showed and talked about many boring things, while the cooler stuff that would make this game feel more than a generic Tomb Raider / Uncharted clone with a Star Wars paint job were mostly ignored.
It's downright bizarre that the stuff I've read in articles made me more excited than the 14 minutes demo, 2 trailers and the stuff the developers talked about during EA Play combined.
For those interested, the 26:40 extended demo is available in 4k at 60fps, file size is 4,3 GB. Not at Gamersyde's quality, but still much better than 1080p.
Then there is the combat which seems to be heavily inspired by Sekiro or Dark Souls combat mechanics but the problem is, lightsaber have completely different properties compared regular swords so as many pointed out it looks like the protagonist is using a glowstick to smack enemies rather than using a melee weapon of pure energy that cuts and burns through everything in its path. Honestly, I wanted this to be a huge step up over Jedi Academy especially in terms of gameplay but not liking the decisions made for this game's design from what we have seen so far.
But the PS2 version was a 10/10 experience for me, I remember I started playing it in the afternoon and replayed the campaign 5-6 times until I unlocked all the powers, collected all the items and maxed everything. Once you went through the campaign once, it was very fast to speed through it, specially since the more power you got, the faster it was to kill enemies.
The PS2 version is one of the games I most had fun with, should have been the worst version in all aspects, but ended being the superior one - and by far - because the developers of the technically superior version were more focused in trying to put as much new technologies and systems in the game as possible than it being fun to play.
To name a few, they put: Havok, DMM (Digital Molecular Matter), NaturalMotion's Euphoria, Industrial Light & Magic's Zeno Tool Framework and helped ILM build its Zed Game Editor, then ILM's face and motion-capture CloneCam technology.
CloneCam alone, "took Senior Manager of Voice and Audio 4 months to cast actors, who for the first time, needed to match characters' age and gender. Actors performed their lines together, rather than in isolation, to better get the sense of their characters interacting with each other. Consequently, the script's dialogue was reduced while reliance on characters' expressions - captured through the CloneCam - increased."
Since the PS2 hardware wasn't as advanced as the other platforms, instead of trying to make all that shit work together, the developers focused on making the game as fun as possible. The PC, PS3 and X360 were mostly going for physics simulation, while the PS2 version was more of an Arcade - technically inferior, but much better game. Best Star Wars game I have ever played, and unfortunately, most people only played the inferior versions.
This does look pretty fun though. I'll probably get it.
