"I would give this game's gameplay a 7, graphics a 7, and sound a 6"--LEBATO
And when thought out, I can see how the game got a 6 for gameplay.
Did you agree with me? Yes, No? Visit http://www.lebato.blogspot.com and see if we agree on something.
Jeff implies it does none of that, and if the full game is just the demo multiplied by 7, I'm really not that interested anymore.
Such a damn shame, I thought for sure this had a better shot at being good than Dead Rising, but I guess it's true that when one door closes another one opens.
Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires got 7.1 on gamespot though, so I might actually divert my attention to that for my combo-y mass mashing fix.
I wouldn't take this so seriously if it wasn't Gamespot, and specifically Jeff who thinks so. Jeff Gerstmann and Greg Kasavin at Gamespot are two of my most respected reviewers, even though they have the occasional fit I don't agree with.
AETOA is currently under reconstruction, so it'll look a bit funky for a while.

Greg is a fucking rock though. :)
I might still buy it just because I was so convinced I'd like it, and although Mizu's input was minimal I do wish to play everything he's involved with.. We'll see.

Remember what I said about a game having issues that can't be overlooked and detract from the overall experience and then there is a game that has issues that can easily be overlooked because the positives are just so good?
N3 is one of those games where the negatives destroy the experience and I'm not one for games that are mindless in their execution. I'm pretty sure the language barrier and their stupid decision to try to appeal to more than just the japanese market ended up being the death of this title. They got lazy they decided lets just throw thousands of enemies on screen at different positions and our job is done. What Heavenly Sword has done with a lesser number of enemies is far more impressive and I swear if Too Human (cause he says final game will have hundreds of enemies) falls into the same trap and it becomes all about showing off enemy numbers then I'll want nothing to do with it.

And I don't know how you didn't notice that when playing the demo. I guess hype is to blame. And I agree that a game can still be good when the pros outweight the cons, and a perfect example would be dead rising--at least to me it fits perfectly.
I think we can all agree in that the biggest pro a game needs to get right is gameplay. To me, the demo was enough to decide the game's gameplay was broken. So with a broken gameplay, one would hope the game has amazing graphics and sound, along with some relatively lenghtly campaign with some replay value, and somehow, N3 manages to fail at ALL of these.
The game never convinced me with videos, there was a point when I thought, "this is looking fun", but seeing as how all the videos looked the same, things started to look grim for this game.
I haven't seen enough of HS to judge, but so far it's looking good. And about Too Human; he said there would be hundreds of enemies on-screen and I can't believe just yet. He [Denis] has that on paper, but he still doesn't know how it'll work on practice. An action game doesn't need hundreths of enemies on screen though, so if that doesn't make it, as long as the gameplay is good, it shouldn't be a problem. That game, as of E3 was a mess, but then the game is not releasing any time soon and Silicon Knights games have been very well polished so far, so I don't see why it should be any differet for Too Human--at least in terms of polish.

Phaethon; Actually, the way the gamespot review score system works it's pretty difficult to score it a clean 6.0, but 5.9 is like 0.1 away, so that's pretty much right on the (your) money then. :)

enemys that are a little more challenging, rather than the enemy standing around taking no notice of you,
better save points, good voice acting, some kind of believable story....i could go on ;)
no matter how much you polish a turd, its still a turd at the end of the day...no?
I'm one of those, really. I think the rush of simply kicking insane amounts of ass(es?) is infinitely satisfying and rewarding, but at the same time there are games of this type that are well put together and others that aren't.
There's no requirement for "next gen" games to be complicated without exception. There are genres of games that are totally timeless, and they should get their due of HD graphics love just as well as any other done-to-death category of games. First person shooters for instance.

If the gameplay is basic or been done to death, at least add some strategy or something original, otherwise it is just being lazy.
