What really interests me is Cry On. If one particular shot that I am vidualising turns out to be real time then... well lets just say we are in for a treat.

If you can kneel before GOD, you can stand before anyone.
GOD will buy Blue Dragon, will you?
I am now known as Shu, refer to me as such.

This doesn't even look 3D, so whats the point, it may aswell be 2D.
I look forward to Cry On i think that will have a more adult anime style to it.
I want Blue Dragon more than Optimus .... mwah ha ha ha ha ha..

They did a really good job.
I do understand the purpose of cell shading in a title like this, and I think it looks very nice--not a huge fan of the character designs though.
I think part of the problem..or rather one of the things that make it difficult to do this in a way that is truely convincing is that 3D does not animate in the same manner as 2D--the lack of motion in 3D space looks horrible--it's a technique in traditional animation..and we're not really used to seeing "2D" images animate so fluidly/mechanically. The principals of traditional animation are not lost entirely in 3D, but some things do certainly change.
Perhaps it's just because Trusty Bell has superior art direction in general--the effect is great here--but I'm just not digging it much due to the actual content I'm looking at.
Lost Odyssey & Blue Dragon Forever!
They did a really good job.
From these pics the characters just look flat, where as in a game like Trusty Bell they still look 3D.
Personally i think this a crap example of Cell shading, art style is way too simplistic aswell.

I'm not too bothered with the token RPG that uses it per default though.
AETOA is currently under reconstruction, so it'll look a bit funky for a while.
Take one 360, add some chopped PS3, stir in some Wii, a sprinkling of DS Lite. Enjoy :)
