I honestly think this is something that came as a result of Forza and its physics engine that lent itself well to drifting. Before Forza, GT was all about just racing normally, and although you'd see a video of GT drifting here and there, the game's handling wasn't good for that.........Forza came and now PD makes the intro for the demo all about drifting. This is not a coincidence at all IMO, and not saying there's anything wrong with that, that's actually a good thing :D
At least to me, the drifting in past GTs looked very surreal.
