GDC announced the final date, time and location for Peter Molyneux's speech about Fable 2. Peter will be talking on March 8th from 12pm in Room 3001, West Hall.


This years Games Developer Conference 2007 is being held in March at the GDC Expo Floors in San Francisco. From the 5th until the 9th March 2007 to be exact. Amongst the many speakers is Peter Molyneux; talking about 'Innovation in Fable 2'. Keep an eye on the Lionhead.com website for an exact date on Peter's lecture and for more info about GDC 2007.

The official word is: "When attempting to create a sequel the temptation is to add more of everything but is this enough? Lionhead Studios ambition for Fable 2 is to create sequel which is truly a land mark title and to achieve this there must be evolution and revolution. This talk will centre around revolutions in Fable 2. This talk will examine how key game play elements have been refined and expanded. It will also look at what inspiration was drawn for the original game and what lessons were learnt from Fable. The processes used to arrive at these design decisions can be applied to a broad spectrum of genres and so are relevant to a large sector of the development community. Plus Peter Molyneux has promised to reveal a totally unexpected feature in Fable 2."

Well they can talk about secrets all they want, I want some damn in game footage. Can we get that too? :P I'll be patient..I'm just really looking forward to seeing this one. It seems like it's very far off at this point, seeing that we've only seen artwork so far..hopefully it is further along than we all think, and they've just been waiting for the right moment to reveal it.

Well Grift I agree with you 100%. I am kind of sick of talking and talking, I want in-game footages.
But it says it will be "shown" at GDC, and I think it is really gonna be a non-CGI video. I think they are gonna show in-game footage now, but I do not think they are gonna go "all the way" with the game, rather just to showhow it is with the new theme and style.

I think high expectations ruined the perception of Fable for a lot of people. There's probably not as much chance of that happening this time around--since Fable one crushed those expectations, more or less, I don't think people will be expecting quite as much out of this game. Hell, maybe this game will actually go beyond what people expect because of it.

I like Fable a lot too. A charming (in a dark sort of way) game. A 3D adventure with a mature theme..not that a game like Kameo or Zelda are just for kids, but they're less "adult" in the way they approach their content.

I wouldn't say co-op is a given for Fable, although it could be interesting. Pet's are a great addition to the game. As someone who primarily plays a ranger in most RPG's, the absence of pets is a big deal to me in a lot of games. So cool..but uh, can we see it now?

The whole pet idea reminds me of Tristan in the movie King Arthur with his eagle.

It could be interesting, but that is most definitely something we have to watch and see how it works.

Yeah that is what I am thinking about too.

Well I am gonna take a wolf or a air animal like some sort of a bird.
And maybe I won't even take a pet, if that's even possible.

If it really is a pet I'm very excited about it now. Molyneux said he wouldn't reveal specific details unless he was 100% sure they would be in the game so I believe this one.

I've got my mind stuck on a pet now so I really hope it doesn't get changed I'm thinking of so many cool combat situations in which this pet could help me out. Or if I can customize him to look cooler. I wonder if he'll have magical abilities? Would be incredible if he did, but if not its cool I guess.

I wonder if having a pet is any indication that you can focus more on ranged combat. That would be a serious plus for me. Rangers love their pets.

That looks awesome. Very true to the original and the best lighting/shadows i've seen. Need more tho.

also, i can imagine that dog to have really immpressive animation.

You guys think it'll have that Assassin's creed type combat system or if it'll play just like the first fable? Molyneux mentioned how he always wanted to change that.

Plus this is a 2008 title apparently? That would be unbelievable.
