With a few weeks from now, Assassin's Creed is coming out, and the info and media is coming from all the places.

So this is the thread to talk everything, and show everything about Assassin's Creed.

Most Ubisoft games have screen tearing seems they don't like using Vsync very much.

Jade, work on those screen tearings and shadowing :D

Shadow aliasing is really bad at times; the framerate looks crappy at times too. Outside of those issues (and related ones) the game looks ace... now the AI and Combat... they may be great, but vids aren't show it.

According to some sites I've read tearing doesn't appear to be a problem for the game but it tends to show up more in gameplay videos than it does when the game is running in front of you. Atleast thats what some sites claiming they saw zero slowdown are saying.

Game looks great, but my game purchases for the rest of this year for sure are the Naruto : rise of a ninja and Mass Effect not sure about anything else.

Ai and combat looks good to me Acert and vids have definitely shown that. This game is generally going to be an easy game that much is obvious no different than the GTA games which I also found easy for the most part aside from specific situations. I think this game has the potential to be like a new GTA.

I think the AI also look easy due to the guy playing it actually being good. It may have really challenging AI, but if the guy playing has been play testing for 4 years, (though there's no evidence to suggest that) he's totally gonna rape it. I think AI is one of those gameplay aspects that has to be experienced than seen.

Seriously, when you see a guy dressed like that with bunch of knives and all, wouldn't you be suspecious of why he was walking around with those lethal tools?
I know I would.

I think this was on easy though, I for one decide to go on Normal and Hard and if there is more, I will go for those as well.

The combat looks cool, its not like your tradional hack and slash types like Ninja Gaiden or God of War...etc.

Heavy attacks and you guard it, it will "stun" you and such. So the combat is a bit more stradegic than those other games which makes it more complex in combat area.

or.. snake stands ther next to a statue to blend in, only an idoit would not realise it wasnt a person stood there'

but of course i woudlnt say that because the important part is that it dosnt make the game any less fun
it makes it MORE fun.
im sure out of the 4 years of work a lot of time will have gone into balence so that the game is actually fun and playable, and enjoyable

Uh yea but its a game, in reality said person would be arrested by the police and it would be game over.

Or Instead of being shot and healing with a medipack, you would simply bleed to death and die.

If the AI latched onto you everytime someone saw you (ie the knifes remark) then the game would just be a hack and slash not a stealth game.

Ok, i dont get this. what exactly are you hoping for? All 6 to attack at once? how is that fair, especially in a game where you can barely take a few hits?

Well that was a demonstration of a early built.
He used camo to blend in, and because its a fictional game and it is a virtual entertainment, they made the AI not reconize Snake when he used his camo to blend in.

There have been footages and screenshots that it took me like 1-2 minutes to locate Snake, but once he moved in a footage or I checked the details for any sort of a gear I would see it.

In stealth games it is difficault to make the AI as real as possible to make them alerted it to ANY sound any visual.

Kojima even said that if Snake hides in a container he will smell a bad foul which the soldiers will notice if you ae too close to them.

UbiSoft said that their AI in Assassins Creed is one of their main priorities, and I have to say that the AI isn't THAT good, but we don't know yet because we don't know it these footages are in easy or normal...hard? I dont think so.

thing is you cant make the game hyper real when it comes to AI because no matter where you went in the game it would arouse suspision, the moment you climbed up a building, the moment you walked past a guard etc, hence breaking the GAMEPLAY. just like the way the guards dont notice a bald guy with a barcode on his neck change clothes multiple time, or the way MGS terrorists cant see you if your JUST outside the cone of vision, its not realistic by any means, but its fair, and fun. i know being attacked just becasue the character design has knives all over him doesnt sound like a great idea.

outside of that non issue however the AI seems awesome. they track you down and follow you no matter where you go. so i really dont see anything to complain about in that respect.

except for the fact this game has shown it in footage multiple times. the new one on IGN actually shows a guard climbing up the bloody cathedral in persuit of altair. they really do chase your ass down in this game.

strange logic since its not hype nor PR, the AI does follow you, footage proves it. they are just as agile and acrobatic as altair himself. and so they scale building just like altair. you must have seen the footage, its in practically all of the new clips over at IGN. the 8 minute one shows it off the best. i guy comes running and jumping up to the top of the castle, and altair grabs him and throws him off.

Shit, if they don't have arrow they will "rock you down", which I have seen in two footages, and if youa re climbing and they hit you you will loose balance.

I agree with Korn here about the AI chases Fear.

There are footages on gamespot, ign and gametrailers.com were the AI have managed to do some climbing stunt of their own to reach to you, from ladders, to short buildings to god knows what.

AI is very difficault to make them as real as possible in stealth games. I know that in one of the games I played even if they hear a sound of feet crushing glass when walking, they will get alerted a bit and starts looking around...I think it was Double Agent?

splinter cell has terrible AI. the fact they can hear you walking on crunching glass does not make up the fact they cant see you when your in a shadow despite having a bright light behind you, surely they'd see a silhouette with green lights floating about? you see. the AI in splinter cell is the way it is because it compliments the gamplay. same with assassins creed. if you have ultra intelligent AI it just wouldnt feel fair and you simply wouldnt be able to do some of the stuff you currently can. in splinter cell, shadows would be useless and in assassins creed you may as well run in and gut everyone since they'd flip out the moment you even touched a wall to climb.

Yeah they chase after you when still i visual range but what if you stay hidden in some bail of hay for instance will they continue to search the village/city (like in PotC 1) or just give up.

The videos dont show after the chase, they just show during it.

The green lights were ment to be his "sign" like the predetors 3 red dots, so they said anyway :D and it worked a treat.

Well these are games really, if they made the AI to notice character lights, weapons, shadows, sound, breathing...etc. it wouldn't be fun at all.

Its a game with a touch of AI advancement to make it challenging.

I just hope they didn't make the AI in this vdei as "normal" difficaulty, I am expecting more hostility from them and in Hard.
