Looks weird though when you try to do anything with 2 blades when one of the blades wont show up but the sound fx is there anyways.
anyway, almost finished it now, and while it definately got better after those first 6 or so hours, it definately not a game i'm going to be raving about after i complete it. the game is such a mixed bag of awesome and crap. they've added a lot of veriety, yes, but a lot of it has been replaced by uninteresting and boring gameplay. the game, even now completely lacks a decent sence of pace. one minute you're flying across rooftops using de vinci's flying machine, and then the next your on a 10 minute walk across the map talking to a character. wth is with that? clearly ubisoft hasnt learned anything from the likes of uncharted 2 or the COD games as far as having a building pace that peaks just as the game ends, if you plotted a graph of AC2's pacing it would be like a heart beat, peaks of brilliance, moments of complete boredom, and flatlines of mediocrity that make up most of the game.
and what is with the amount of collection objectives? i know collecting random crap in open world games is pretty obligatory? (GTA has is packages and pigeons, infamous has it's shards, far cry 2 has it's diamonds, and AC1 had its flags etc) but is there really any need for so much of it? 100 feathers is fine, but 30 codex pages? 100+ treasure chests?, 20 glyphs, 6 assassin seals? 30 paintings? 22 weapons? 5 sets of armour? half of the game just feels like you're collecting stuff, whether they be outside the main story or not. it's rediculous.
on the plus side, the tombs where really REALLY great, and really makes you miss the more linear style of gameplay associated with the games style of platforming (prince of persia) the final altair suit you unlock looks amazing, and easily surpasses that of altair himself design wise. and the puzzles assiciated with the glyphs where all really well done and some of which genuinely challenging, but never frustrating. the atmosphere was good, but the visuals where pretty terrible (some of THE worst LOD and facial animations i've seen in a current gen game) the folly and sound design was bad a lot of the time too.
overall it's been a very mixed bag, combat , free-running and stealth is just as cool as ever, but you do it so much that it's become a bit tiresome and i've still got one or 2 hours left i'd say. it has definately got me interested for the third and final chapter in the series tho, if they can continue to improve on what they've got, then third times the charm should be the case for this franchise. atm, they're both just OK games. not bad by any means imo, just nothing special. fix the slow pacing, make the mission objectives more intersting and polish the game up, and they're onto a winner.
Doesnt hurt to download it if you got Uplay credits from the game :)
Anyhow I completed the story yesterday morning and found myself at the same time as Desmond, saying WTF. Brilliant moment :)
I did feel a bit sorry for Ezio being nothing more than a messenger for Desmond. Poor fella went through all that and Minerva didn't even give him a pat on the back. He'll be wondering who Desmond is for the rest of his life.
But seriously I thought the ending was excellent. Only problem is I want more answers and more story NOW. I don't want to wait another two years!
Some of those Glyph puzzles towards the end.. damn they really tested me (and my girlfriend). I thought the Truth video was pretty cool and found myself thinking it would be interesting if in the third game you could travel to that time.
I couldn't stop playing the game even after I completed it. I found myself for the first time since Crackdown, hunting down collectibles!
Oh and I really want to know if Altair did use the Apple one more time before he died..
Gentlemen.
I finished it on friday after having spent about 26 hours with it, taking my sweet time, getting distracted by everything including the basic, awesome freerunning, and the feathers really play into you just aimlessly goofing around. There really is a reward for doing just about anything that is fun in this game.
But yeah, visited my folks over the weekend and got back earlier today and.. preetty much just keeping on playing it now. :D
It truly is an excellent game. I'm considering making some youtube videos of the awesome stuff you can do when you play around with the free running and even more so the combat in here. I can dick around with guards for worrying amounts of time just to explore the different approaches you can take to the fighting. There's SO MUCH STUFF in that system when you get into it.
It's still a bit early, but I'd really like to discuss the finer points of the story and themes of it at some point, but I think it's best to let people complete it proper first.

The ending didnt end like AC1 which was great, gives you an idea for AC3, such a tease :)
But anyways, its done, then I thought to myself...what now?
Even though I really liked it compared to AC1, I am going to trade it in at GAME and get the value saved on my GAME card for future purchases while the value is high now.
Anyways, Ubisoft, you guys delivered this time, congratulations!

The DLCs will probably be extra missions that couldnt take more than 5-10 minutes to be done with.
But yeah, I am sure I wont regret it considering how much content the full game had, so I am full with that sort of thing.
Some DLC talk, but nothing particularly concrete just yet. I'm gonna be playing this until my parkouring index finger comes off I suspect. :|

Crysis MP is awesome btw cant believe I didnt pay more attention to the MP feature of the game until now, love the whole shooting they done and the obvious sci-fi look is a big plus for me.
Now I still have my Master Ezio figurine though, dont know what to do with it, dont want it :P
I wonder if game stores buys it from you...doesnt hurt asking them tomorrow morning.

But hey, never hurts to call them and ask.
But yeah, Tradera or Blocket might work.

On a completely different note, I've been waiting for the Uplay "store" to open so I could use my acquired points to buy extra stuff with, but it turns out I've been trying to access the wrong menu item all this time. You actually use the menu that says something like "Won, Actions, Rewards" or something like that. I thought I'd give a heads up if other people are as confused by it as I was.
I skipped the extra knives, the theme and the Altair outfit though. The latter was perhaps the most compelling to me, but considering how utterly beautiful the final Ezio garb is, I wouldn't really want anything else for him. I grabbed the extra map/Auditore tomb though and will check that out later this evening. The other points I'm saving for Conviction.

It even cost to put something in Blocket as well, my mom said it is around 30-40SEK, isnt worth it.
The tomb like the others is a ton of fun. One thing I found to be a bit lacking was the reward. Although I did enjoy reading up on the Auditore history.
Part of why I love the Assassins Tombs is the sense of accomplishment and reward at the end. Knowing that you are one step closer to that grand prize, makes completing them even more satisfying.
Gentlemen.
1000/1000gs and everything done. It's time for it to retire and sit on the shelf until the DLC hits. Man, those final feathers almost drove me mental though. Luckily the two that I was missing were located almost next to eachother. :)
I'll say this however, the reward for finding them all was pretty disappointing. I'm gonna spoiler tag it, but it's hardly a spoiler unless the LACK OF EXCITEMENT is a spoiler. Your mother says "thanks for not forgetting about me" and you get the Auditore family cape thingy which.. bizarrely makes you constantly notorious. So basically the effect is that you keep being jumped by guards ALL THE TIME. It's great for experimenting further with the combat I suppose, but once you've collected all 100 feathers, chances are you've had your fill of fighting dudes.
I mean it could at least be something useful for when the DLC hits, but this just seems completely pointless.
But then the completionist in me that comes out whenever I love a game this passionately is quite content with the full 1000gs as ultimate reward for it.

First off, the visuals are a big hit and miss. The character models are appalling, especially non-story characters. The environments can vary from absolute shit (countryside environments) to absolutely stunning (Venice is just fucking wow!). The draw distance is remarkably good, but things a few meters ahead of you do pop/smooth in. The shadows are disgusting.
The parcours elements are excellent most of the time, but there are a couple of things that kill the pacing. The leveldesign tends to work against you, you'll often find yourself having to climb down because there's a very wide street which you can't leap over (having more of those crossover wires from buildig to building would help with this). Obviously they're re-creating a reallife city, but it's still a game and gameflow should've taken priority. Also, going down from a building is painfully slow and awkward. The flow is completely lost. So is climbing up often times. It's just a tad too...slow I guess. I know they're mimmicking reallife body movement and such, but it just kills the flow. Also, why the fuck can't I WALLRUN?! Big mistake!
The combat is pretty cool actually, except it's very limited. They should expand on this, with perhaps another attack button so you have like a 'strong' and 'weaker' attack. Obviously, the AI is completely retarded...but with this combatsystem, you hardly have a choice. You'd have to incorporate a NG style of combat to be able to take on 5-10 enemies at a time. I myself think a nice middleground between AC2's and NG's combat would've been the best option.
I really like the little collect and puzzle mechanics in the game. I think the whole 'renovate the town for reward' system is a stroke of genious. For example, you renovate the church, which in turn opens the church doors so you can to that hidden treasure. It's a simple example, but it works like a charm. But, they really should've gone a bit further in that. Like, when you collect those statue's and you insert them and it opens up with a reward hidden inside. They should've made that an entrance to a hidden temple in which you have to do POP-esque platforming to get to a MORE rewarding treasure. There are a few sections in the game that do this. but far too little and not elaborate enough. They've just not taken that concept far enough. Overall I think, the game needs some more amazing, secret hidden places. And it also needs more awesome landmarks as the prison tower and that church thingy in Toscane.
I think if they improve on the stuff I mentioned above, the 3rd installment will be absolute killer. The potential is massive, just needs some more thought to it. Make it a bit more exotic, more like a game rather than an episode of a tv serie on Discovery Channel...

I mean, when they started fighting using the fucking force it was bad but when it turns out the gods are aliens and they start talking about that 2012 bullshit i just couldn't take it anymore. I spent 16-17 hours playing through the freaking game and THAT joke is the payoff storywise!? And not only that but much alike it's predecessor, though to a worse degree, it ends with the most ball smashing cliffhanger in video game history! Whoever wrote this needs to fucking realize that we have to wait another 2-3 goddamn years before we get the end, this is not 24 when a new episode comes out in a few days! I'm so pissed i could write in all caps right now. *mouth frothing*
Take a bath!? Get a bike!
