I think Home is scary. :/

I go there sometimes, usually by mistake when I miss the Playstation Store selection in the menu going something to the effect of "NOOOOOO!", and then accept my dire fate and end up on in the home theater thingy. The way people stand around like zombies in front of the monitors looking at special messages from directors telling them to buy GI Joe clothes.. I just.. I dunno. I think it's really scary.

Then I try to leave the theater only to find I'll need to wait for a 50ish meg download, and that's usually when I go "you know what? How about I don't." and quit to go see what's new on the Playstation Store, then end up playing some Wipeout HD or Shatter. Time better spent.

Just completed it. Super fucking awesome game. Everything about it rocked hard. Some people have complained about the ending, but it wrapped up the story nicely, featured some kick ass art direction, and had a hella-awesome, iconic-looking cutscene that could have been pulled straight out of the comic. Can't wait for a sequel.

i'm kinda hoping it wont get a sequel, the reason AA works so well is because it's on the very small arkham island, and i'm worried the devs will be tempted to give you the whole of gotham to drive around and explore, but then you add the typical open world downfalls into the equasion, like repetative side quests etc. i honestly dont want a sequel. just keep it as the batman game that was actually good for a change and leave it at that.

Nuts to that. This game is awesome, and I want more of it. Granted, I do not want an open-world game like you described, but if the devs could manage to set the game in a similar smaller area, I'd be all for it.

completed it now, ending was pretty crap imo, way too abrupt to be particularly satisfying. but the part up to that point was great. i do wish more iconic villains showed up, but i guess that'll be for the sequel...which i still dont want. they'd have to set it in arkham again but then it would feel like bioshock 2...basically the exact same game.

in terms of a sequel batman is kinda stuck between a rock and a hardplace. they either set it in the same small and focused arkham, but risk the "seen it all before" feeling, or they open it up to gotham, in which case it's going to be like all the other open world superhero games. if they did it like infmaous it would be OK i guess, but then gotham is going to feel incredibly small and retricted. i just dont see how they could do it, and do it well.

They would just have to figure out how to set the game in a "small and focused" section of Gotham. There's no need to use the whole city.

Rocksteady could easily pull off a great sequel - and it would in no way have to be set on Arkham Island to be a success. Like Ronsauce says, there's no reason why they can't set the sequel in a small(ish) section of Gotham and centre the plot around wherever in Gotham it's set. The Batman universe has tons of interesting and varied places for the next game to be set.

And make no mistake about it: after the critical success of Batman: AA, there will be a sequel.

This game will get a sequel, its the game of the year after all,it would be a serious crime if Rocksteady dont make one.

but that is the "hardplace" i was talking about. if they use a small part of gotham, no matter where they chose, it's going to feel restricted. becasue you know, as the player, there is more out there. arkham island is just that...an island, you're confined to it and that is why it works so amazingly well. it'd be rubbish if you got say, the dockland of gotham, becasue you know that past that artificial barricade or invisible wall, there is more gotham that you cant access becasue the game says you cant. it'd be like setting GTA5 in a space equal to that of arkham island, it would feel restricted. but then if they give you the whole thing, it would suffer from repetition as all open world games do.

i just cant see how you can incorporate the almost cavernous nature of archam (the very element that made AA so damn good) into the main city itself? for me, the reason AA worked is because it is such a densely packed, maze of buildings/sewer networks and cave systems. finding a crumbling wall or secret area in a cave system or old gothic building makes sense, finding it in wayne manor or wayne enterprises, or anywhere in a modern gotham building would just feel weird.

i dunno, maybe rockstead are in fact capable of making it work, but due to the fear of it turning into something crappy, i kinda hope they dont even bother.

Just because you can't conceive how it can be done, doesn't mean that the devs can't.

I disagree. If I can't access the area outside of what I'm suppose because I'm not supposed to story-wise, then that makes no difference to me. Hypothetically, the Gotham PD could cordon off a city block for whatever story-related reason, you'd have access to the buildings, the streets, the sewers... doesn't seem too big of a problem. Plus, I'm sure Rocksteady could come up with something much more creative and fun than that. I don't see an issue.

Once again I agree with Ronsauce.

There is no reason why Rocksteady can't focus on a certain section of Gotham without it feeling restricted. If there's a reason why I can't access certain places, whether it be plot-related or something else, I'm fine with that. As long as I'm playing an amazing game with loads of places to explore, I won't have a problem.

I'm sure Rocksteady could pull it off. After all, it's what they're paid to do.
