I came for the game, I'm staying for the girl. I'm disappointed we still don't have a name.
confused... the name is in the announcement lol and the thread title. Batman: Arkham City. Good name i think, if not uncreative.

"You’ll also have more puzzles, more Riddler challenges, both of which come back from the original, and side missions which are new to the series.
This time around, Batman can counter two attacks instead of just one, and he also has a smoke bomb."

NIceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Day one1!

Day one indeed!

For me, Batman:AA had the best-looking, most satisfying melee combat of any game that's not a hack'n'slash. The fluidity of it was just gorgeous, and I'm very excited to see what it's going to look like in Batman:AC with the ability to counter two attacks at once.

I wanted that feature so bad in Batman AA because for some of the takedowns I sometimes got punched while I was in the animation and with this double counter will prevent that, it will make the combat all more awesome, I think they basically are making Batman a unstopable melee machine if you know what you are doing.

And I agree with that, the combat its very awesome and fluid for a non action game.

I just wish they would give every damn superhero game. They captured the essence of Batman SOOOO well. I say give them Spiderman and let them run with it!!!

The first game remains, and is likely to remain, one of my favourite games this generation. I just had such a blast, and never once did I feel frustrated; heck, it was just damn good fun. Not only that though, Rocksteady quite evidently put such love and passion into it, and there were so many moments in the singleplayer journey that just had me think 'fuck, that awesome'. The Scarecrow moments were sheer genius.

The sequel could be the same game set in a different location and it'd still be a day one for me. The fact that they're looking to vastly improve it - the news about being able to perform two counters will make an unbelievable difference, while they're also looking to make it more 'free-roamy' this time round with the side missions - just makes me all the more excited.

Ther sidemissions will make it perfection for me,I freakin love sidemissions I hope for at least some 50 of them even if they are just 3-4 types I want lots of this to do.

Linear story campaign but with sidemissions will be freakin great.

please let me drive the batmobile PLEASEEEEEEEEEE!!

Nuts to that. The last thing this game needs is driving. I sincerely hope this game is bigger than Arkham Asylum but small enough to render using the Batmobile useless.

It could be cool if done right; I wouldn't mind having it in the game solely as transportation, rather than a gimmick to use in certain sections of the game.

if i find out this is open world, in the typical, "spiderman" sense, with boring, repeative side missions. i'm gonna be pissed. the first game was great, but it's greatness came from how focused and small the world was. i dont want the batmobile and random encountrs around a large city...but i have a feeling that's what we'll be getting. hope i'm wrong.

Agreed. Although considering that the game is in Arkham City and not Gotham as a whole, I'm optimistic that it won't be such a large area to where it feels conventionally open-world.

Just a side note, Rocksteady needs to get rid of the hands-to-the-face "death" animation and maybe have some better enemy body physics. It was the only thing I found that distracted from the whole, otherwise perfect experience.

I'd like the sequel to be a bit more expansive and grander in scale, but by no means should it be conventionally 'open world'. In fairness, it's not like the first game is traditionally linear in its structure; there was still a fair amount of exploration. In any case I believe Rocksteady knows what they're doing, so I have few concerns.

They warrant our trust after Batman: AA.

But one of the great things was how the world linked together in a Metroidesque kind of way. It all felt very cohesive. I don't think it'd feel quite as good if i was just driving from block to block in the batmobile.

Agreed,it could be like AA but on a more large scale and I don't see anything wrong with that, it could be cool driving the batmobile if done right like blmbox says not like GTA at all, I don't want a openworld game in the RDR,GTA sense just as a merely transportation, instead of going on foot a large portion of the map you could use the batmobile thats it, not on a mission, not to kill criminals with it just a transportation vehicle.

And it doesn't look that large Arkham City that is to be a openworld RDR kind of game and Im thankfull of that, they can stay in the same formula that worked great but with a more larger scale sidemissions sounds great to me.

True, but I still feel that you could get that with Arkham City on a grander scale - even with the inclusion of the Batmobile.
