The player count will benefit the console version immensely. Hopefully, BF3 maps scale with the player count (see: BF2), and that will lighten the load significantly.

People are just downright kidding themselves if they think it's going to look like that though (see: Crysis 2 on consoles).

Last word was 24 players, which is disappointing. Still, this will look and play like no other I'm sure.

Yeah BC2 has some of the best atmosphere and environments you could hope for in a shooter. This looks like it just raises that bar even more. I heard it'll be 32 players now on console as well, so 4 more on each team. I agree with Grift kind of. I don't expect it graphically to look that much better than BC2 on console. Especially with them upping the server limit.
Environments and animations however will be much improved

On a side note. Heard they brought back some of the original 1942 guys to work on this in some form? Pretty awesome
I think BC2 has some great animations. They move very nicely, imo, and I like how they change based on moving up/down hill, etc and they have a nice sense of weight. I can't think of another shooter that does it better. What's wrong with them? Are you talking variety, or choice of movement?

There's nothing wrong with them now by any means, I just mean they'll only get better and even more realistic. More variety for sure.

Oh I don't care either. There are some more BF2 levels I'd love to see in BF3 too, but those are fantastic choices. They're clearly my first picks :)

I have been playing BF2 lately and the game still rocks! Its way better than BC2 but I still hate jets! They dominate the game and are impossible to shoot down (kinda like the Huey from BC2 Vietnam)

Sorta tempted to repurchase it on Steam. I want to play it on my PC and my notebook. They removed the CD check though, right? 'Cause my notebook doesn't have an optical drive. If there's no longer a disc check I guess I can just figure out some other way of getting it on there and not waste $20.

COD4 and CSS were my go-to games on my laptop but I bet BF2 will run even better.

I don't think they've talked too much about what they're doing with the campaign. I think we'll find out quite a bit next week though. They're going to be demoing tech at GDC and hopefully that includes a bunch of actual gameplay. There's going to be a lot of crow to eat next week. Some people seem to think the trailer was faked, and then there's others who don't think it's that impressive. I can't wait to see this shit.

haha single player lol...Dice isn't known for single player games at all. Its probably going to be tacked on by a C grade junior team at Dice....I mean look at th is:
Battlefield 1942 sp: Bots
Battlefield 2: bots
Battlefield 2142: does this even have single player?
Battlefield 1943: nothing
Mirror's Edge: Lame story, basically saved by good game design but this game was just a test run for Battlefield 3
Bad Company 2 SP: lame as hell, no reason to play it

At least the campaign has co-op, and will hopefully be a nice, wide open non-linear experience, unlike Bad Company 2. That could make it a fun distraction at least. And is Epic really already moving on to UE4? Seems early. They could easily milk UE3 for the rest of this console generation. But if they do, I'm sure we'll be discussing it. I am totally excited about seeing Battlefield 3 in action.

I installed BF2 on my notebook and played a bit last night. It runs better on this thing than it did on my desktop when I was playing it full time. I thnk its funny how they implemented all of these horrible stance and movement nerfs, yet people bunny hop more than ever.

yea some problems of lack of weight were addressed in Battlefield 2142 and the newer bad company games but yea weightless moon jumping and dolphin diving are annoying but thankfully I haven't see it that often

BTW anyone who thinks this footage is fake needs to get a clue :P
