While it's tempting to suggest that McRae's tight chicanes have allowed Codemasters to channel its technical resources (360 is the primary platform, PC and PS3 close behind) into a denser game world than others could, that would be disingenuous

Much as the topic seems increasingly moot, it feels like dereliction of duty not to ask the McRae team if DIRT will run at 60 frames per second. The response is one you can expect to become the norm over the coming months, if not further into the future, for all but the most fidgety of games. No, it won't. Two squads of developers, we're told, tested an early build both at 30fps and 60 fps, concluding the influence of post-processing effects was quite enough to maintain the sensation of speed at 30, the controls remaining reponsive regardless. It's worth remembering that when similar was said of PGR3, plenty bemoaned the decision, but few contested the result.

Boo..too bad.

They're right about Gotham, atleast..Motorstorm has a pretty respectable sense of speed @ 30fps too. Thank god there are still 60fps games though!

Forza 2 is, MotoGP 06 sorta is (screen tearing) so bring on 07 and fix it, Ridge Racer 6 is, and I'm sure there are probably a few other 360 racers running @ 60fps? Maybe, maybe not..guess I'm not sure. GT:HD is also 60fps, too bad there's no freaking FF support over there :(

Hopefully GTR2 runs @ 60 fps on 360--that'd be an instant purchase.

That's really going to kill GT5 for me..I'll still purchase it, most likely, but Sony really needs to listen to what their customers want here and man up and pay Immersion if they must. To be honest I don't even care that we lost feedback in the pads (well I do a little) but I really care that there's not even the option to use FF Wheels or even rumble in PS2 games :(

Oh Good that forza is 60. God I havent touched my copy of RR6 in a very long time. Gears of War has dominated my gaming for the past month! GTR has gone MIA, we havent seen anything since that trailer was up at E3 was it ?

Now the Sony thing, I hear ya, is the most annoying thing ever. I mean clearly Sony is being Cheap here.

Oh GOD THE BLUR..well adjusted motion blur can look awesome in motion and can make a 30fps racer a bit smoother, but my god does that look ugly here. Entirely overdone, my eye's don't function quite like a camera lense, and games like this should be simulating vision, not overblown lense effects.

I'd rather take a little less detail, for a lot better framerate..especially if they're just going to obscure all of that detail with motion blur.

I think people need more time getting used to new techniques, maybe? Very few people seem to have mastered proper use of motion blur and depth of field, imo.

Bizarre Creations said if they had more tiime PGR3 would be 60 fps, so I'm guessing PGR4 might be.

According to gamereactor (nordic magazine) that has tested the game is does look as good as the images. But if they're getting payed to say that, i know nothing about. :p

Edge doesn't put much of their stuff online so I doubt you'll find one. You're best bet are any community forums attached to Codemasters or the game discussing it.
