Doom.. do you really need D3D Overrider and RadeonPro? You're just using Overrider to force triple buffering, and that seems to be an option in RadeonPro too.

Questioning it because I'm installing them both right now :D

I think you need both because D3D overrider has more option than RadeonPro...its a must have program on any computer IMO

I think Game Booster that shuts off pretty much all useless programs in the background does more job than D3D Overrider...I think.
I could see the CPU bar drpå to like 10% from like 90 or so when I turn on Game Mode lol.

I installed FRAPS to check the FPS I am getting for Warhead and its 25+ with everything on Enthusiast except Shadow, Water, Motion Blur, Post Processing and Volumetric stuff, those were on Gamer.

Now if I tried similair setting on this card without D3D Overrider and Game Booster I would have gotten a laggy game which would be unplayable.
But I am getting quite alot of 30+ with rare 25 but its without any sort of mods and IMO its great.

I havent checked Crysis 2 MP FPS yet, but will and then I will post it...on Hardcore.

@Doom Bringer
I got Warhead installed (looks so hot LOL) not Crysis 1.

After playing Crysis 2 on Harcore, I am getting alot of 25with some 30 here and there.

But I am guessing Hardcore has stuff like AA, motion blur...etc. turned on so it takes away alot of perfomance right?
If so then I do not want AA, nor crazy motion blur (yes I have tried that +r_motionblur 0" thingy, doesnt do a damn thing.

I one day there is a way to be much more specific on graphics setting , or else, good perfomance I guess, better than before though obviously.

Ah well, I will stick with Advanced for now for perfomance, especially for multiplayer.

the only difference in hardcore is better object quality....like stuff popping up on the ground otherwise both hardcore and advance are the same

btw crysis looks better with the right mods ;)

I haven't tested it with the Crysis 2 demo yet Doom, but I'm expecting to see pretty good results anyway. I've known I should be forcing triple buffering for some time and for some reason I've been too lazy to do it. I'm glad this thread encouraged me to act. I just played a bit of Bad Company 2 Vietnam, and there's definitely a noticeable boost in performance. I was on an under populated server, and it was 'nam, which often yielded performance beyond 60fps (maxing out around 80) with my current config.. but just now I was seeing 120-150fps instead. So yeah.. triple buffering ftw.

yea! I have been using that program for ages! It does wonders in many modern games :-D

I think I am gonna get this game day 1, its too good to miss out and plus I getting bored of Team Fortress 2 & Bad Company 2

Really?
IMO Hardcore looked like it has a bit more shadows and some other minor differences, I dont know, maybe its just me.

If thats the case then of course I am sticking with Advance, it runs better for me than Hardcore anyways.

@Grift
I have been using Triple Buffering through the CCC since the day I got the graphics cards.

I am just surprise how good it turns out with D3D Overrider and Game Booster, you gain quite alot of perfomance by doing so, and my graphics card isnt all that, not for Crysis games anyways LOL

Ah well, its very nice.

gamebooster sounds like an app from 1998 lol, I remember using programs like that when I had a HP computer back in late 2000

but whatever works for you....are you on windows vista or something?

Windows Vista, 32.

Well hey, I havent been into PC gaming for a super long time as you guys.
But whatever works to increase the perfomance while getting those nice graphics at the same time, nothing wrong with that ;)

Here is a 3 graphics settings comparison for Crysis 2
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.p...

Hardcore looks blurry and thats the highest?
I dont like it tbh, Advanced looks the best, sharper, sure more jaggies but atleast its not very blurry, and it still looks more vibrant and runs the best.

I am sticking with Advanced, I tried it, got around 40fps, not once below 30, very nice.

I haven't looked into this app but I don't think it's an issue. These are all things that a lot of users already tweak on their own, but this just makes it easier for less experienced users.

I think nvidia and ati control panels only turn triple buffering on for opengl games.

Also I think triple buffering without vsynch doesn't really do anything. I could be wrong too, where is Acert93 when you need him? :P

+1

Also... RadeonPro's FPS counter is way, way off. Almost double your actual framerate, so don't trust it.

RivaTuner is for Nvidia stuff :D

The Riva128 was Nvidia's first breakthrough product. It was an awesome card and an awesome value at a time when the market was being dominated by 3DFX. Oh those were the days. I knew from the start that Nvidia was going to be huge!

RivaTuner, unfortunately, is no longer updated, along with D3D Overrider.
I don't think that matters so much right now with D3D overrider, but it might in the future.

I guess the guy works solely for profit now.

I don't mind people working for a profit, just when it's "solely" for profit. I think the product suffers at that point because you don't believe in what you are doing anymore, and it loses soul...

well, he's working for MSI and other vendors now, saying something about being sick of the freeware scene or whatever.

At least Afterburner is a free utility, and the best of its kind.
