Silenced guns are a Hollywood mythos anyway.
There is no such thing as silent guns.
They're loud as F***, they just sound different.
Bows are silent for real though...
But the guns ARE silent in the GAME. Hence the point still stands. ;P

But that's the issue, it isnt MORE stealthy, it's just a worse option. I mean, how many soldiers do you see taking a bow to war? There is a reason we dont use them anymore in combat and conflict. They're simply not as good or efficient as guns. The only way i can see them making sense of a super soldier with a super suit using a bow and arrow is if for whatever reason it's your only option at the time? Other then that, it's a pretty pointless addition imo.

Doesnt make it any less stupid for a super soldier to be using inferiour weaponry against a more advanced enemy. And it certainly shouldnt be the weapon they are REALLY trying to push onto people. It'd be like master chief holding a slingshot on the cover of halo 4. It'd be equally retarded seeing as he has an arsenal of superior weaponry, both human and alien. I guess i'm the only one who thinks it's a bit...shit. I'd understand if it appeared in the first crysis, i'd accept it if it was some sort of franchise staple that needed to be there for fan service sake (see turok) but in the third game in a franchise? Odd, just plain odd.

Or maybe they're just advertising a new weapon that seems to accentuate their new overgrown aesthetic. Shows something different compared to other Crysis weapons. You're acting like this is the main weapon.

Also, you loved Avengers so you should know how cool high-tech bows can be with Hawkeye.

What is it exactly your problem here?

1) You are not forced to use it.
2) You are not forced to like it.
3) You are not forced to keep saying it sucks.
4) Crytek is not in any way consulting you if it is cool or not to use a High Tech Bow in thier game.

So again whats the problem? Its stupid to use a Bow having guns? no is it not and it is already explained in this very thread.

At this point you only look like a stubborn child, you dont like it ok we know.

Plus, with how strong the suit makes the character, that bow could punch through some mean shit. A compound bow is a totally reasonable weapon if you are the kind of one man army who relies on stealth completely. Soldiers don't, they may be stealthy for a period, but most engagements with the enemy have zero stealth elements. Silenced weapons aren't.
This. Actually makes some sense. Especially for penetration and varied arrowhead ordinance. Maybe some zip-line functionality too? I think that it's called a standard SPEAR arrow may imply something, lol...

So KORN bitches about a bow in Crysis 3 doesnt make any sense but doesnt bitch about why it takes more than 5 shots in Uncharted to kill someone that just wear regular shirt and pants, sometimes headshots doesnt even kill them lol

And yes you are the only one here who dont like it because not everyones opinions is so random shit to everything, or alteast they know when to stop nitpicking and move on.

Besides, Hakwkeye was freaking awesome IMO. As soon as I saw Hawkeye using the bow first thing that came to my head was Crysis 3 because he was using high tech arrows as well.
Also, just because he dont have his own movie doesnt make them shit automatically, and Hawkeye isnt that famous to get one. But this is for another topic and thread.

And you are actually comparing the bow from Crysis 3 to Master chief might have a slingshot? really? LOL

I agree, it is a video game, the main core is to have good gameplay, bow and various arrows could be fun. And...you are not forced to keep it. But i am sure I will constantly keep the bow and arrows since it makes me feel like a damn badass predator.

Its like the torque bow in Gears of War games. Why use that and not a shotgun? sniper? or any weapon that fired bullets.
Its because its something new and FUN.

Plus, the best thing about good bows and arrows in games is you can pick up the arrow/bolt afterward (I Am Alive, Skyrim) so it's reusable unlike guns.

Well in Crysis 2 you werent exactly running out of ammo quick and be hard to find more.

Though I do want to know is where do the character keep all the arrows? There are is small bag with arrows in it.
And in the artwork one of the pieces says auto reload system or something, how does that even work? :S

it's either CG or I call bs. This kind of graphics is impossible on current hardware, even pc and judging by last experience called crysis-2, consoles are their by far top prio. So the actual graphics can in no possible way look like this.

Also yeah wtb a normal hero with personality, not this generic marine. Give Psycho back ffs, now that was a character.

I think the bow would be great with different kind of arrows. With remote explosives for example, or some EMP or this kind of things. You can shoot it and fire the trigger later. Dont know. I shoot the bow myself, so I like this silent-hunter feature.

BTW...about silent guns. I dont agree with Split Tongue. Of course there is no convention absolutely sound-less weapons, but if You use sub-sonic munition with sound suppressor, the sound is really put to minimum. Its like an air gun. So speaking about mythos is mythos itself. Lets call silencers as a slang expression for sound suppressors.

As I said, there is no soundless weapon and most sound makes the bullet hitting steel target. Here is what Im talking about. Difference between without suppressor, super-sonic munition and subsonic. You cant argue with that. Also, there are many movies, where silenced weapons are stupidly quiet, but there are movies, where sounds are realistic. It is just no mythos when talking about suppressed weapons. They really are quiet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YYkXya6xOM

Last game was pretty bad and that trailer did nothing but deflate my hype level. I will pick it up at some point but not paying $60 for this one.

Also sucks that Crytek didn't change the alien design, fighting those robots was just boring.....

Getting rather tired of FPS's at this point, the only ones I am looking forward to are: Bioshock Infinite, Dishonoured and BF3 expansion packs, the first two look like cool FPS adventure games so I am really interested in those compared to the rest of the brain dead shooter titles.

  • Driftwood
