At one point the game was running under 10fps and the actual way they managed to boost performance was essentially to have a "camera" fly around the track a few frames ahead of the player camera and take a picture every 1/60th of a second and use that to update what the player sees!
So faced with those limitations, it didn't turn out too badly and MotoGP 07 should look pretty decent all being well.
Forza 2 has turned out to be what it is. Lots of stuff on the cutting room floor but it seems like they got the core game right and hence it's reviewing quite well. A missed oppourtunity perhaps rather than a disaster, though I'd maintain the PR approach was something akin to the latter.
Its actually just now that certain games are getting their due after the Forza 2 drama. I personally don't think forza 2 looks bad (I really do think it looks great aside from the damn aliasing which can be rectified with some adjusting) but whenever I use to say this or that game looks great it was more like "Well optimus thinks everything looks good"
I remember people were pretty hard on motogp in regards to the framerate drops so its good that forza 2 doesn't have that issue. Yea the Forza 2 PR was a disaster for sure. I'm not sure what it is, but something definitely went wrong I think or maybe they simply overestimated their ability to get all that outta the system on the first go. I wouldn't be surprised if Forza 3 ends up being what everyone expected of forza 2 graphically. Also yea I expect forza 2 to review extremely well because the fact of the matter is it can't be denied how important it is to nail the most important aspect of your game so well and thats an area in which turn10 truly delivered. What would people say if they delivered on all those graphical features promised back during E3 06 then when it released the gameplay was a joke? That would be a major disaster and I'm sure as a consequence we'd see tons of people saying I don't care about fancy graphics I want solid gameplay with a solid 60fps with better vehicle physics. (Some of the things said when PGR3 was released)
At one point on this site thats all people were saying. Ultimately I'm satisfied with Forza 2 and I should be picking it up next week I'm too busy with other things to get it now and if I got it now I wouldn't play it till maybe next week.

As for MotoGP, that game to me looks barely passable and nothing else. Bikes look great and lighting too, but the environments are so poor, they still have 2d cardboard people, fatal tearing and drops in frames. You also have to consider how brilliant GP3 on Xbox looked and how they didn't even bother to have a working speedometer for GP06 on the 360, that's just really really bad. At the end of the day, it looks passable and I really don't see how it fits into this conversation at all.
I won't compare to PGR3 anymore, I think all has been said from me. Just one thing Milhouse was referring to and probably Optimus didn't quite get it. Milhouse said PGR3 was using a lot more polygons etc etc for the cities when compared to FM2's tracks/NY. And that's not criticizing FM2 for not having city tracks, but I think what he was trying to say is that, if FM2 does not "waste" so many polygons/great textures on making beautiful cities as PGR3 does, where the heck are all those resources going into FM2 then because I DON'T SEE THEM anywhere!
What it is a shame though is that while replays in FM2 are 30fps, they couldn't keep up the framerate locked at 30. In the demo, I saw drops and much pop-in especially when more than 2 cars are on-screen. That is a shame really, and one of the reasons I would not give this game any more than a 7 in graphics. Passable, but that's all there is.
On the other hand, I haven't been able to find the freaking game. I went to EB games yesterday and today and those fools don't have it. All the best buys in my area had their shipments delayed for some reason, and I really don't feel like hunting for the game at every other store like Target, etc. But I'll get it as soon as possible.
This game is so beautiful, theres actually some very good replays on certain tracks, like silverstone, laguna seca and suzuka long. By far and away the best game on 360!

I think the answer to that is simple what does forza 2 do that pgr3 doesn't? Its like a broken record, but forza deserves credit for being 60fps and having that incredible physics model with full damage modeling. If there is anything major that I fault the dev for is they should've achieved 4XAA considering they weren't a launch title of any sort.
If you guys believe PGR3 could've effortlessly matched forza 2's physics model in addition to being twice the fps and include all that damage modeling then I don't know what to say, but it never occurs to people that maybe PGR3 got away with so much because it isn't doing as much.

Mario looks just about perfect to me. Maybe you can add some green hills behind? An enemy? Really nice though. I can't wait to get this game.
EDIT: Let's say you put a red circle on the car, and then you decide you want to put something else behind it as a first layer, is there an easy to way to simply switch the layers?

now how about a Batman car for yours truly :p
I believe in Harvey Dent too
However, seeing your Mario design, makes me want to make a Sonic one when I eventually get the game. The endless design possibilities at your hands. The mind boggles :o

Regarding 3D grass, are you sure it's not there ? Besides, how would it look ? i was really puzzled and interested...
Dirt has almost no car reflection aliasing (at least when you do not crush the hood) so I guess we might see that in PGR4 :crosses fingers/knocks on wood:
Once again, I think BC got a multicore dev kit in june and a dev kit with the 360 CGU in late august, it's almost a miracle (BC devs' talent) the game had such a WOW effect.
Sorry to sound like I'm trolling about PGR3, but I hate it when people start criticizing the game's technical aspect... the game was rushed and not developed on a real 360 dev kit.

Man, sorry to hear that Bloodforge. I've been there :(. PGR3, two years ago.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."
DAMN YOU MS!!!

I just love suzuka long, laguna seca, sebring long and mugello long so freaking much, oh and throw in maple valley too, The game is just way beyond my expectations in almost everyway!
