My latest masterpiece. Took me FOREVER to build up mario, I think he turned out pretty damn good though. My first run at a Paper Mario livery, I'll be adding some more marioish elements in later versions. I put one up on the auction house if anyone is interested in buying it.

Well, I played quite a bit yesterday.

Pretty much what I expected. Being able to color rims adds so much more though.

I don't see the need to add the "proving grounds" races on the test track. I think it's only a way to make the game seem bigger than it actually is. I'm almost done with those (2 more races), but they are annoying as hell because:

1) I never really liked the track that much
2) The track is probably the ugliest "next gen" track I've seen. It is ridiculous really, even 2d trees in the near background, it just looks awful.
3) The cars you have at that point are generally slow.
4) Playing the same track that you don't like over and over and over again just gets old and boring.

But I'm pretty much done with that, and I'm playing some of the amateur cups and whoa, that felt refreshing.

And just for the heck of it, my "masterpiece" AKA my only car I have bothered to paint :P Man I gotta take more time, I know I can do better. I'm going to basically buy some of the same cars I had in FM1 and paint them the same way, they should look amazing.

Yeah the proving grounds events are TERRIBLE. I'm so glad to have finished [suffering through] those. I mean, I know you don't have to do those first necessarily, but I knew I'd never want to go back to them... I wish they'd stop structuring racing games this way, honestly.

Thanks! All my own doing. I think the Gears logo is about 100 layers, and I'd still like to do some more detail work on it too. The text I did by modifying the Forza font. A few of the letters are a little off so I'll probably hand make those. This is just a work in progress.

And the gears logo 100 layers? Wow. How do you do the dark parts of the red? Other layers with a darker red?

Oh and that Gears paint job looks great btw ;)

I did the shading with the primitive shapes, just layering them and adjusting the opacities to try to recreate the major shading "shapes" in the Gears cog logo. So I spent all of yesterday playing this game, from about 10am to 3am... about 17 hours straight? LOL Anyhow I had an absolute blast the entire time. Built and tuned a B-class AWD Golf (awesome handling and acceleration), an A-class STi (like the Golf but faster), and then before bed I tried finding a combination that would let me qualify in the current D-class tournament. I tried tuning a Mini, which gets me within a few seconds of the qualifying time, then I worked on my Sprinter Trueno which isn't quite as good but a LOT more fun to drift, hehehe.

This game is simply outstanding.

I got the game today! It's really nice. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I am. I'm playing Novice for now of course. Chose a 2005 Chevy Cobalt SS Coupe for my starter car.

A lot easier for me than the demo. I guess because of the progression of car classes. I'm starting lower, and given a car that fits my skill level.

So far the graphics aren't anything to write home about, but its really a great game. Trying to paint a car now. Expect to see a disaster soon.

Pants, how is the FF wheel with the FM2 settings? You get it to work well with yours? You try another wheel yet to see if yours was defective?

I tried it with the demo. Takes a great deal of work to get everything setup for the wheel (chairs, cables, etc.) If I'm bored enough to try it again, maybe I'll give it another shot, but I'm always disappointed.

I realise I'm a bit late to the party. I managed to get hold of Forza 2 today and I've been messing around with the decal editor for the last couple of hours.

Not much so far, but I made a motif of my comic's main character Mirkan, and it turned out like this.
