A clan m8 played in beta, and he liked it, game is very promising.
From what i saw, i dare to call this game *Battlefield 3* :D
Hope a PC demo come as well :)
We'll be announcing other beta programs and demo releases over time. :)

Is there much benefit from a quad-core CPU with UE3 in general? I haven't really looked into that.
I'll check it out, it looks cool.. Is there a releasedate yet? I hope it's not to soon, because I'm already very busy playing TF2 atm, and CoD4 and UT3 will come out soon aswell, which I both will definatly go play aswell.. It's a bit annoying that for some serious ammount of time not a lot of real good FPS games came out at all, and now all of a sudden we get a overkill of good FPS games on the PC in a relative small periode of time.. Choices choices choices.. I already skipped Quake Wars because of this, and will probably also skip Crysis (unless it turns out really good).. I hope Frontlines will be good enough, but I also hope it won't release anytime soon, because tbh TF2, CoD4, and UT3 is plenty to keep me busy for a while..

I agree that they're playing around with a dangerous release period. The game needs as much refinement as possible with the level of competition they're facing too. That's why I keep saying, "good luck." :)
It looks like a good start though, especially for their first comercial game.

The console version puts this in a unique position too. 32 players + dedicated servers.. they could have a winner on their hands. 360 demo isn't too far off either.

The aiming is a bit "loose", the control of the car drone, is a bit wierd but has a learning curve.
After I played COD4 hours of hours, I haveyet to see a FPS game be even near in terms of its shooting mechanic.
The redloading, shooting, the feel of the weapon firing, the sprint...etc. feels perfect.
I do like the fact that Frontlines has that futuristic look though (sci-fi junky here :P)
And that it got cool features like the drones, and got different routes (now and then) to take out the enemy.
*A New Form of Change*
This is obviously more Battlefield than Call of Duty. I wouldn't want every games combat to feel like Call of Duty's personally.. that would be boring. But it is still very rough around the edges.. I'm very much looking forward to their release still but I feel like they have a long ways to go in a very short time frame, and I'm honestly a bit worried.
I was hoping that they would be the next Battlefield, and unfortunately as close as they have come I feel like they're still going to miss the mark. It's almost more surprising considering that the testing community is made up of so many high profile Battlefield players.
What is successful, is vehicle combat.. much more so than ETQW and other recent BF clones.. but I'm afraid that may not be enough to distinguish this from the pack, when there are so many other releases surrounding it.
I know this was a pretty critical message, but I still wish them the best of luck, and hope that they deliver an awesome game in their final product. I know I'll be buying it, I don't know that I'll drop Call of Duty league play in favor of it though. I find myself still wanting Battlefield 3, which is sad, because part of me is so out of love with DICE that it's not funny. KAOS is a much more appealing developer from the standpoint of community support and coolness.

The frame rate in the demo is not good. The most notable difference, however ( and yes I know they are different games ) is the aiming. Even after cranking up the sensitivity it just does not feel right. I even had this same problem when I had a breif game of Halo 3 the other day. Frame rate and controls threw me off completely. I did have high hopes for this game but right now I can't see myself playing this.
Still, hoping for the best, but as is, "the next Battlefield" it is not. I wish they could push back the release another month or so and concentrate their efforts where they're most needed.
Mods, stop changing my SIG! I'm going to end up banning you!
I still have my eyes on this one, but at the moment I'm pretty disappointed with the release candidate. I find it especially discouraging that there are so many people in the beta community who are happy with its direction. They've had a great oppertunity to have a real impact on the development of this game, and instead many of them wound up being yes-men instead of being harshly honest when the development of this game most needed it.
I don't know why they bothered with a bugged out single player demo. They would have been better off waiting a few more weeks and delivering a more polished version of the PC release candidate (which is still in desperate need of more development time).

OPG: What type of environments will a gamer experience, examples such as sand storms, rain, wind?
FFOW: The variety in the landscapes that our level designers, lead by Richard “Iggy” Cowgill of Desert Combat fame, and environment artists have built is tremendous. While we don’t have any in-game weather systems per se, they’ve been very creative in using environmental effects to build really immersive ambience. Coupled with some really powerful and impressive sound (I’ll be blatantly honest, I feel our sound superior to many of our competitors that I’ve played recently), it makes you forget your staring at a screen and draws you in. I’m really proud of what those guys have done and I’m just glad to have been associated with them on this project.
The interview covers plenty of topics and is a very interesting piece, so you should definitely go check it out.
