Cake or death!?
Apple receives plenty of criticism and mostly from the sorts of people who would also criticize UWP.
Sweeny has softened his tone after being in contact with Microsoft, but we don't know how they're going to respond in the long run. They're not comfortable with developers rallying around its death (already):

Microsoft earns its fair share of criticism.

MS do dumb things, but at least their internal policy doesn't seem to be "ream the customer as hard as possible". If it weren't for compatibility i'd probably run a linux dist, but Windows isn't all that bad in the end. The windows app store though, no thanks. I don't want my PC to pretend like it's a console.

You should look outside the US. MS may receive its fair share where you are but here in Europe, trust me, everyone loves to hate MS

Visually it doesn't even look that different from the remake, really bland and I can't tell the animations apart either.
It's a refinement of how it worked in 3, in 3 it was automatic while in Gears 4 you have to consciously press a button to do it and it kicks people while doubling up as a way to vault over cover quicker. It's also a way to vault up ledges quickly so you maintain as much speed as possible, the hitbox is pretty much the smallest thing ever.
Makes a world of difference when you're rushing for power weapons I have found.
My overall verdict on the beta is that it is Gears: 3fined. It's not revolutionising anything like the original Gears, but it's staying damn true to the formula and I love it.

Granted I wouldn't want the children telling me to have gay {insert racist name} sex with my mother somehow, to be listening to Run the Jewels so I guess that's not good idea either
Honestly that MP trailer hasn't changed my mind.
Also what's with FPS always going that flood, swarm, mutant route in sequels? Do they all just roll the same fuzzy dice with enemy options and "oh it landed on flood/swarm for us too, guess it's time! Nah we can make it look like that same tan skin colored bubbly monster shit too"
I have not managed to grab and execute with a knife yet, it requires intricate timing and clearly needs to be mastered. Like I said before the game does not revolutionize things but these little additions really spice it up nicely.
I also love the new weapon DropShot. I hated it at first but once you figure out how to use, it's awesome and the best part is the dodgeball MP mode!
Graphics do need quite a bit of work though but having this MP run at 60fps is awesome.
