Bfbc2 has them
and look how that worked out, one of the worst first weeks I've ever seen. I even got dropped a couple times week two.
I understand the desire, but I've never found it as important as many others seem to.

That's because EA is always stingy with the servers. Same thing with 1943. They always prefer to adjust for the players instead of paying for a ton of bandwidth that may never get used.

When you play enough Gears Of War 2 MP. Host advantage makes a HUGE difference in a game, it matters a lot. If you have the best connection in that game you win 1-1 in almost all scenarios. It breaks the multiplayer in Gears of War 2 (BREAKS IT). I was once host in a game and just gibbed everyone so easy with the shotgun, it was crazy.
This was a major reason why the MP was soooo goddamn frustrating. It made you angry more than it made you feel rewarded for anything.

I agree about Gears 2 for sure, that was just fucking broken in MP. But I think that game was the exception in terms of non-dedicated servers being THAT much of an issue. Most games don't seem to suffer nearly as much.

I agree dedicated servers are ideal, but so often it comes with a crap launch and a lot of bugs in other ways. I'm just saying it's far from perfect, or without it's own set of frustrations.

But yes, as long as they are willing to pay for the extra bandwidth then no prob, just doens't seem like that's the case too often.

Cliff Bleszinski To Debut Next Game Next Thursday
Falon specifically mentioning Xboxes in the twitter likely means its a 360 game, either Gears 3 or Shadow Complex 2 ? Anyone's bet is valid.

Epic's Cliff Bleszinski promised that he would reveal his next project when the weather got warm, and it looks like that promise will be kept. Late night host Jimmy Fallon tweeted today that the game will be appearing on his show next week.

"Game designer Cliff Bleszinski debuts his new game on Late Night next Thur. Set your TiVos! And your Xboxes," Fallon wrote.

That game is likely to be Gears of War 3, which has been rumored for some time now. The most recent rumor pegged it for an April debut, with a release slated for the following year.

The Epic-owned studio People Can Fly is also working on Bulletstorm, which is being developed by the team that worked on Painkiller. It will also be shown later this month.

Sounds like shooter fans will soon very happy. We'll be keeping an eye on Fallon's show for the official reveal.
There's also this ....
Gears of War 3 to be featured in next EGM issue

The gaming magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly, was recently re-launched. On the web site’s subscription page, you can see a small image of the cover from what persumably is the next issue issue featuring Super Street Fighter IV:

http://egmnow.com/sites/all/themes/acquia_slate/im...

If you look closely, you can spot “Gears of War 3” as one of the featured games in the lower right corner along with Halo: Reach, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Gears of War was released in 2006 while the sequel launched in 2008. Epic Games previously stated that their next title won’t be appearing in 2010. Furthermore, Cliff Bleszinski is slated to appear next Thursday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to unveil the next project from his company. According to EDGE, the debut trailer for Gears of War 3 will be released on the same day (April 8th).

Gears Of War 3 will shake up the franchise's acclaimed cover system and feature underwater missions for the first time, Edge can reveal.

Developer Epic Games is set to evolve the combat by introducing new Locust foes with tentacle-like appendages which are capable of extending to player cover spots.

Meanwhile, the COG members of Delta Squad will be equipped with explosives that can travel beneath the ground to take out enemy cover positions, our US publishing source told us.

While the first two Gears games offered mobile cover in the form of objects like burnt out cars that could be pushed around, Gears Of War 3 will feature a heavy duty mech suit the COGs can utilise both for protection and to wreak havoc.

All of these new features will be present in the singleplayer campaign and multiplayer modes, Edge understands.

We were also informed that the game will be set during the summer and introduce a number of new environments to the series, including underwater locations. The end of the last title saw the COGs sink mankind’s last city, Jacinto, and flood the Hollow in order to take out the Locust Horde beneath the surface.

Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 demo at GDC in March showed off jungle or foliage-heavy areas, which could also make an appearance in Gears Of War 3 - Epic previously used GDC 2008 to debut Unreal Engine upgrades that went on to show up in Gears 2.

Gears Of War: Jacinto's Remnant, a novel written in conjunction with Epic, continues the Gears story from the conclusion of the second game. One story strand focuses on the island of Vectes, a former COG naval base sporting fertile lowlands, forests and a river. This setting could be ideal to show off the developer’s new Unreal Engine features were it to show up in Gears Of War 3.

Gears Of War 3 has yet to be officially announced. However, Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski is set to reveal a new game on Monday’s episode of US talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and it could be on the agenda. He was originally set to appear on tonight’s show - the same day we predicted Gears Of War 3 would officially be unveiled – but said that the change in schedule would allow Epic “to take a couple more days to polish” its game.

You know, i'd LOVE to see how their ridiculous proportions look outside of them big ass armor suites they wear, though i find it more likely that underwater means even more armor to add some sort of underwater propulsion system, cause i sincerely doubt that Marcus & co will actually go for a swim.

I have so much respect for the Gears team after 2, the mere rumour of cover evolution has me trembling in anticipation. These are people who have an uncanny understanding of what makes for a satisfying, rewardingly challenging core game system, and the ways in which 2 elaborates on the systems of 1 without breaking them (which is what I honestly thought was impossible) inspires a ton of confidence, I reckon.

Epic Games will release Gears of War 3 in April 2011.

Eurogamer Germany took a photo of the US Xbox Live Marketplace moments ago showing a Gears of War logo inside a feature window followed by the text "Gears of War 3 Announced", "The epic story concludes April 2011".
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/gears-of-war-3-f...

Plus:
Epic Games is to announce not one but TWO huge new games in the next 14 days, CVG can reveal: Gears Of War 3 and a shooter from EA for console and PC.

A source close to Epic told CVG that the EA game was due to be announced at the start of next week - but this has been pushed back due to Cliff 'Cliffy B' Bleszinski's delayed appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, when Gears Of War 3 will get its first full unveiling.

As originally reported on Edge, Bleszinski will reveal Gears Of War 3 on the NBC Late Night show on Monday evening (Tuesday morning UK time).

But that won't be the end of the biggest month in Epic's history, CVG understands - as an EA shooter developed by Epic studio People Can Fly will be announced in the two weeks following Bleszinski's TV appearance.

"EA needs to make sure enough days have passed between the Gears launch and its own announcement," the source told us. "They were originally scheduling in an announcement for the People Can Fly game early next week, but Cliffy B's postponed TV chat has pushed that back by at least a few days. It's looking like the following week now."
