FROM THE DARKNESS I DRAW MY STRENGTH!!
Free mp3 from GOW3.
Mr. Zurkon is looking to kill you.
Free mp3 from GOW3.
I had played GOW 1 and 2 on the PS2. I couldn't go past the first level. I had already played NG, and then NG back on Xbox, there was no way I could take that crap. So I downloaded the demo for this to see what it was all about.
I'm sorry but what is wrong with you??!?!? Talk about senseless button mashing, it feels incredibly weak. I got a ~120 combo by spamming the same attack over and over. Also, who's idea was it to roll with the right stick? And who thought grabbing those birds using another awkward button combination was cool? Graphics are cool, and so are the animations, the scale, and QTE sequences. But those are technical and presentation things.
Presentation stuff is cool, but to my standards this game is nothing special. We've got another case of MGS4. A game that is worth playing through, but you can't tell me with a straight face it amounts to great gameplay, and I thought that's what it's all about. Weak weak weak.
Mods, stop changing my SIG! I'm going to end up banning you!

i can see why some wouldnt like GOW tho, in the same way i can see why some wouldnt like MGS4, thankfully i'm not one of those people and those series/games can safely be filed under "masterpeices" for me.
I might have misunderstood you, but did you just call NG crap?
Don't say a game is crap because you cant beat it. I beat it, and so did alot of people. I remember it took me atleast 4 tries on Normal when I started playing NG for the first time.
If you couldnt beat it, you should have just taken Ninja Dog (easy) and then go pass level 1 ;)
GoW offers platforming, puzzles and combat but all on a level so easy and basic that it's hard for me to enjoy anything but the first playthrough, but the first time through is always really fun simply b/c the game does offer a lot of style and cool setpieces, even if they are quite silly at times.
A game like NG feels so dynamic that no two battles ever really feel the same other than the boss battles, which can be a chore at times for sure.
I don't think there is any fair way to say either game is a "better" game though, as they offer much different things to much different types of players. I'm just glad I enjoy both games, even if I do admittedly like one style much more than the other.
Both are great fun, one just offers a lot more replay value IMO. But I think they both deserve a ton of credit each in their own ways.

I mean you're welcome to not enjoy it, obviously, but making GoW more complex wouldn't benefit anyone, it's simply not that kind of game.
God of War in terms of core combat is very arcadey game and has more in common with a horizontal/vertical shoot em up than something like Ninja Gaiden. God of War is all about patterns, and whether the moves you throw out are complex or difficult to time or not, it has more to do with positioning and "keep firing". Bosses especially make it even more obvious how you need to constantly change position into the safe zones while the boss does its crazy death beams of death equivalent, and winning or losing to the game's various challenges is almost always about context. Even its QTE's, converted enough times into vague principle speak is about context.
Then you have this platformer and puzzle game wrapped around it to the point where, if that was emphasised more, you'd almost have a Zelda type situation. Zelda has even simpler, even MORE positioning based combat, but as a game it has substantial enough elements around it that it overall just benefits that balance.
The perfect game isn't Halo shooting + Virtua Fighter melee + Forza driving sections + Ace Combat flight sections + a Shenmue environment, and I think we all know that much. If you're like "hell yeah!" then you prolly just aren't thinking very far. That's like expecting Schindler's List drama in Terminator 2. Elements that are too extreme are like oil and water, and in order to bridge them they need to meet half-way.
This is a reply to Lebato's post, and I'm using that as jump off point, but it's not that I disagree so wildly with his post that I went of on this rant. I simply think that comparisons to what are effectively combat focused games are unfair, when GoW is really in a different school of game alltogether.
And that's not just to say that GoW puts more emphasis on its cutscenes, I mean fundamentally as a game. 3D and 3rd person cameras have unified the look of games, making it a harder call to make than simply looking at Gradius and Ace Combat, but you can still identify how hopelessly different games are at the core, and when you realise that it seems forfeit to make the comparison.

I for one would be exactly the same.

Raptor: your opinion does not count, your bias is way to extreme. In fact i don't think the word "extreme" qualifies to describe your affection for Bayonetta ;)
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?

Hades weapon and that nemesis whip that glows green, looked pretty cool.
But I need to see more of it, proper longer videos, not snippets.
PS. Sex games...what a fucking childish bullshit of devs to put it in there! Its disgusting that they put such a GIMMICK into a game that it isnt even neccessary at all.
I thought Rachel is stripper outfit in NG was bad but this just tops of it.
Like i said before its like comparing virtua fighter to Dead or Alive.
If I wanted to watch sex I would watch porn instead and not some idiotic gimmick in a video game. Just to show you how desperate devs are to focus in a specific audiance.
*sigh*
what did the game get then over at GT? cos i certainly aint watching any more footage of the game, i've seen way too much as it is.
oh, it got 10/10 from gameinformer if anyone is interested.
and 9/10 from gamespot (video review over there with lots of spoilers, or so i've heard)

NOW what GOW should be ashamed of, and why those devs should burn in proverbial hell for, is for having the balls to say they know cookie squat about greek mythology...
I was a fan of greek mythology since the legends of olympus was the first book i read on my own as a kid and i even took classes in college on the subject for my electives.
Now the crap story in GoW has such a misleading portrayal of the gods and their interactions with humans it disgusts me that the devs dared to set this game into that setting.
And those are my 2 cents. I commend Bayonetta for at least trying to create some sort of story (altho a very weak one).
When all think alike, no one is thinking very much.
