I might hate Kratos, but the overall design of many of the scenes in this game, even if very familiar, where just so well done. It was like a fun summer popcorn movie, not too deep, but a lot of escapist fun to get the aggression out.
Great job on the game devs!
I know the game has no New Game+, but as long as Kratos is maxed out with all magic and weapons in arena mode then its all good.
I also read there are Godly Possessions throughout the game, each item from each God gives you a certain boost for something. One of them is that the game automatically does all the QTEs for you, I hate QTEs so I like this item. But these items can only be used once you get them and complete the game one time.
Too bad there is no 7/11 where I live, I would love to have the Morpheus outfit code along with Dominus outfit that comes with LE.
Anyways, I am 90% sure I am going to pick this up tomorrow.
PS. I have lsitened to the entire OST for this game, some tracks, freaking epic orchestra pieces with amazing choir!
Feels like they did this score for me LOL.
I will trade the Phantom of Chaos code with anyone with Morpheus code. Morpheus and Dominus outfits are the best ones from GOW3 interms of design.
Too bad the devs did not add the awesome Ares armor, that one looks the best of them all.
PS. This is just so funny, wish we could play as "Homeros" :P
I think i have stood in poo
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK OFF!
I think i have stood in poo
I bought the LE now, slick cover print on the front. Has this characterline bumps on it (dont know what its called).
I redeemed the code and got the two outfits and Arena x7 but I cant use them until I beat the game one time, which I am, on Normal.
I just read that this entire 7-Eleven GOW3 goodies is US exclusive. Guess I have to wait for the outfit to show up on PSN.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK OFF!
was it traded in or something? because it should come with the box.
I think i have stood in poo
thats what you get.
The version they was selling is that minues the mmmmmm box.

The combat, by surprise, is better than expected. I like how you can use L1 and press X to attack and the game will automatically attack and change your weapons as much as you want as long as you keep holding L1 and spam X, in a nice fluid pace, though you can break that and decide to keep that weapon to keep using it and then change it again by holding L1 and pressing X again.
Too bad you cant remove any weapon from the "list", because the game will switch to all the weapons you have gained in order, I would love to remove the lion head weapons so all there is left is the chain weapons.
They should have polished the hit detection a bit more against bigger enemies, but other than that, feels great. I do love how the weapons starts to glow stronger as you upgrade them more and more.
For example one level was completely dark and all you saw was the glowing weapons and seeing them move in the darkness was pretty neat.
About the pacing, visuals, cinematic approach....etc. all that stuff is just A class stuff, just fantastic, though I dont like some of the platforming/puzzles, a bit boring.
As I knew from the getgo, the epic experience would be fantastic and I wasent wrong, only concern was how the combat would turn out.
Now that I have almost maxed out Kratos and his abilities and weapons, its awesome. Some of the moves I did using the L1 + X and keep using manual attack now and then, damn the combat CAN turn incredibly fast paced if you master some custom combos, especially when there is alot of minions with a few bigger enemies coming, just awesome TBH.
Sure the combat is easy to get into (and I dont care at all), but just like I have said with Ninja Gaiden...easy to learn, hard to master...and it still counts GoW3 thanks for the chain weapons and its real time weapon switch. Sure you can use the d-pad to switch weapons, but if you want to use "whatever" and go into manual L1 + X it is great, I love this feature.
Anyway, I knew if I held back from the "day 1 purchase" and watched enough videos of the combat and made a decision out of that I could make a proper decision if its for me or not, I dont regret my purchase.
I just hope I am near the end so I can unlock the Arena Mode and start using the Morpheus outfit.
I got quite alot of trophies, some easier trophies I can get during Arena Mode easy (if the game allows that).
PS. The sex mini game, nice details on the women, and the boobies LOL...but seriously, such things shouldnt be in a game, just pathethic TBH.
I did the mini game for the trophy, but its annoying that everytime you do it and complete it you gain alot of red orbs.
I do like red orbs, but I dont like doing this nonsense stuff *sigh*
Do I dare to say it is better than Ninja Gaiden? Not exactly close, but its very very close!
Everything in the game was perfect except for a few minor issues like some puzzles was boring/frustuating, hit detection on bigger enemies needs more impact so they can react to your hits more for stun, outfits disabling trophies is not good considering I dont like to use the default design, again.
But its small issues, so I give this game a 10/10, I know from my standard thats the only title in the genre I have seen perfection...yes not even Ninja Gaiden :)
Story, visuals, orchestral score, scale, art design, cinematic angles...etc. perfection for such a genre, just pure EPIC.
The combat was IMO FUN, once you level up some of the weapons half way and once you start figuring out some nice combos it is awesome. Its a fun "buttons ripper" so just go crazy. The demo was misleading in the combat, they should have given us a bit more maxed out weapon, or weapons to play around with, like Ninja Gaiden demos.
But yeah, I got alot of the trophies on my first playthrough, but as I mentioned, I do like to use the Dominus outfit on my second playthrough but the bastard devs have disabled the trophies which is annoying as hell. But ah well, as I am not a trophy junky, its not big of a deal.
Also, I heard you cant skip real cutscenes which is annoying. Skipping cutscenes and going directly to the real-time game would help because some of the cutscenes was rather long.
As for Arena combat, I have to complete the Challenges of Exile (?) and Olympus and complete all of them and unlock Arena mode.
But yeah, I had such a awesome time with GoW3 than I had with NG2/Sigma 2! Though I still dont like Kratos default design very much.
I was playing Normal and god knows how many times I died during boss fights and o it was during QTEs, especially the first fight with Zeus and his awesome lightning!
I also found all Godly Possessions, but I wont use them in New Game, but rather in Challenge/Arena mode because by the time it was too late I figured out some strange visual effects in the game after you get Helios head for the light.
There was some strange wave look with small light particles, I figured out that if you hold the Helios light towards that small area a chest is revealed. Be it red orbs or an item chest. I figured this out near the end. I had a VERY small way to go to max out my last weapon to get a "all weapons maxed out" trophy.
Anyway, I am glad I held off to see more of the combat to make a proper decision, and it paid off.
Now the only title in the genre I am waiting is Castlevania Lords of Shadow, god I hope that one is a awesome title, close to GoW if anything considering that one is my most anticipated title yet.
More like God of War less like Ninja Gaiden in combat...in a way considering I prefer western titles more (God of War, Darksiders) for its art design approach.
As I mentioned, I prefer easy to play than complex stuff like DMC and NG...but that is as long as the combat is very polished and well thought out...unlike the "one-weapon only" Dante's Inferno (though Trials of St Lucia and Lucia herself is quite tempting). Though I give them credit for the polishness and how fast the combat was.
PS. Ryu Hayabusa >>>>>> Kratos, always!
I just prefer Ryu as a character...in his Fiend Outfit or DOA outfit.
I mean seriously, when the combat isnt all that, why put such impossible challenges to them to make them very frustuating, and I REALLY meaning frustuating.
Most challenges that involves bigger enemies is shit considering this games hit detection against bigger enemies isnt doing it any good.
Not only that, but there are no I-frames in this game either unless you are in QTE sequences.
For example I hold L1 + press hold Triangle to let Kratos charge his blade for a air spin attack but even if I do this move before the enemies attack I still get hit. Kratos has no signature move to let him be a "ghost" for a few seconds.
In Ninja Gaiden, there is a few small i-frames Ryu has because of his signature moves such as Ultimate Techniques and Izuna Drop.
You can charge your weapon but if you dont release it before they attack you will get hit, and that makes sense. But if you do release it before it then no enemy can touch you until the UT is done.
But in GoW3, even if you are down you get hit which is unfair, not only that but they needed to come up with something better for the counter attacks because this isnt working, they dont do a damn thing other than stun them.
I did say GoW3 was awesome, but that was as a general experience in story but the combat truly shows in the Challenge mode and it is broken at times with those issues which makes it annoying.
This isnt hard to be honest, it is frustuating...two different things in this genre.
Hard is when the combat is perfect but the advanced AI behavior will try and dominate you anyway they can (Ninja Gaiden). Sure it has its issues, but atleast there is a way to know how and when to attack to make them react to your attacks and not happen in random unless you keep bashing the triangle 5x + times.
Frustuating is when the combat is broken in some places were they throw in enemies that needs a specific weapons to kill or they dont react much to any of your moves, yes even the big ones. Or once they do, they can break your animations by attacking you EVEN if you are doing the move (QTEs not included).
And considering they are bigger than you and do more damage it is up to the devs to give us some sort of a i-frame to get pass that because i-frames is our savior if we master it.
Yes I know about Kratos dodges has i-frames but you can barely do it most of the time and you get hit.
Too bad you have to complete these dumb Challenges to get to the heart of the mode which for me is Arena mode, thats the one I am looking forward to.
Anyways, this rant is ONLY for the Challenge Mode because its restricting me with weapons, magic, time count...etc. which I dislike.
I like modes were there are hordes of, unlimited time, maxed out weapons and magic and you keep killing in waves until you die...that is what I am hoping for in Arena Mode.
that is all.
that is all.

One of them is that you have to get stoned by a gorgon or whatever snake like enemies 10 times and not die. Took me around 10+ times to do it until I read on youtube that to make the enemy use their "stone power" is to try and grab them and they will use it, then hold L1 to block to quickly turn into a stone and then wobble the analog to quickly get out of it.
Doing this method makes those enemies use their stone power much more quickly considering they will do it everytime you try and grab them.
10 freaking times though, especially with the clusterfucked enemies you will receive after your third or so times!
Anyways, got my trophy for completeing it and also unlocked Arena Combat.
Now I have to do 3 missions in Challenges of Exile which pisses me off.
1. kill 1000 (I think) enemies. The catch is, there is no magic nor super charge mode, and your weapons automatically switches each 30 seconds.
This mission is a damn beast, try my hardest to spam every combo I learned or just use the most powerful ones and its impossible. What makes it impossible is the stupid bulls, they horn your ass too much!
2. Kill 5 Chimeras.
Each time you kill 1, the other wave multiplies. There is a time, I think 150-200 seconds.
3. Kill Fear Kratos!
This fucker just doesnt die at all, no matter how much you hit him. And no, there is no healthbar for him so you cant see when hw much damage he has taken. This one doesnt make any sense at all.
And considering this is Fear Kratos his damages takes like 5x more than you so dont get close to him.
All you got is the bow and your typical Blades of Exile.
If youspamm the bow i rapid fire he will counter it with shoot back a fireball, you can counter it back to him but still, no telling how much he has taken damage.
I keep playing counter fireball with is like ping pong :P
These 3 are the most annoying ones that pisses me off badly in Challenges of Exile.
But Arena Combat is AWESOME.
I didnt know you could customize your own enemy waves an how many and what types, and add the whole "infinite" everything with magic, health...etc. just infinite brawler! :D
Too bad the levels sucks, better level locations would be better considering how fantastic some open locations were found in the campaign.
About the trophies...damn this game has easy trophies, pretty much close to Dantes Inferno, and I got 97% on that game and I barely did much. That game is the only one I have so much trophies on, I would think GoW3 will be my seconds.
Though as I mentioned, Trophies arent something I go for. If it is easy to get I will do it.
But yeah, the combat is truly fun in Arena Mode and Campaign, in Challenges, no!
