Tim Moss, Director of Technology at Sony Santa Monica revealed today via Twitter that gow3 takes 35gb of space, thats you know, a class stuff with PS3 games, showing BD advantage once again... uncompressed textures, variety of environments and awesome uncompressed sounds, great stuff, read here:

http://twitter.com/TDMoss/status/9422071243

Thats another title utilizing dual layer BDs and we already know they've said that gow3's runtime is almost twice as much as the previous games. For now, can't wait for 25th :)

Did they say anything about install times? Cuz...you know...I'd personally rather take 10 seconds to swap a disc or two than sit through a 5-10 minute install.

No word on that but Uncharted-2 didn't need an install at all, I'm hoping on that!

I don't give a toss about installs personally. I'd rather have a smooth experience throughout the game than somehow escape that initial wait.

I install all my 360 games, too.

GOW3 doesnt have an install, at least that's what i heard. seems sony have come up with ways to avoid doing it while still having amazing looking games. i just wish multiplat devs could do it too.

Absolutely, Uncharted 2 is the most shining example of it, that game is a technical and artistic dominance, and is nothing less of a demand maker on hardware front... but runs silk smooth without an install, same is the case with the original one too. On a side note, Uncharted 2 has made a milestone in gaming by winning over 150 gaming awards and the latest writing one you can see here: http://ctrlaltkill.org/?p=3865 some great words by critics about this marvel. So, yeah multiplat devs should really get hold of PS3 dev by now!
Check this here, in HD:

and this one to the end, amazing stuff:

Yeah, and seen the vids I updated/posted above? see the first one, a great example of insanely huge draw-distances that are totally maneuverable(at 2:26 you see a bridge afar, then you totally pass it later), all those beautifics are just additional decorations and the actual world for which whole physics and mechanics is calculated is that moving train, same goal like SotC, and this feature has fully exploded in gow3!!!

Cool. I'm not a fan of people ripping on the 360 recently...acting like disc swapping is some big hardship...despite it taking considerably less time than a lot of the PS3 installs. At least if more and more PS3 games do away with forced installs, it makes the disc-swapping bitching seem a bit less ridiculous.

While i agree that its no big deal to have to switch discs, with installs you only have to do it once... where as with disc swapping, well it can happen quite a bit lol.

I love my PS3 :) its ace

But disk swapping shut the FUCK up, did we mind in the PS1 days ? did we mind in the PS2 days ? no... if i recall we was all "OMFG ITS 3 DISKS" that usually got us happy thinking we was in for a large well made game

Do we hear people moaning when they buy the special edition ? christ thats 2 disks, you have to take a disk out and put a oter one in to view the bonus features OMFG!

When people moan about changing disks, all i see is a fat little bastard with spots unable to bend over, get a fucking life.

Agreed,I remember in the PS2 days a game with multiple discs was good sign to me at least it was long!!!

Unless you have your console a mile away it doesnt matter at all.

D came on two discs and was an hour long. It really just meant they had a shit ton of badly compressed video on them.

European version has been confirmed 5 more GBs than the other ones, with perhaps the reginal languages... making it a 40gb of uncompressed beauty!

OK, devs are quick, its confirmed that there is just NO INSTALL even when they are utilizing a dual-layered BD, now isn't that amazing!!!
Such beautiful visuals, 30-60 swapping frame-rate, 40gb with no cg movies and even then no install??? bet even a pc can't pull that off :)

More details here:

40gb with no cg movies
Posted by playstationuniversity
With this amount of data being used it is highly likely that the game’s cutscenes are pre-rendered and then played back as FMVs.
Naturally, the cutscenes will still be rendered using the game’s engine, and thus not ‘CG,’ but chances are they won’t be real-time. Of course, the game will feature a massive three-hours of bonus behind-the-scenes footage also.
The game is going to be absolutely epic, but don't expect 40gb worth of gameplay.

Hey ManThatYouFear, who said anything about 40gigs of size alone, what I said was 40 gigs of data being read from a disc alone... without installation on a HDD... now thats something to wonder about! and thats what made me bet that even a PC can't pull that off :)
