I think pvp will be instanced, but judging from infos so far they are going for open pve zones.
Anyway, i'll keep an eye on this. I know it won't be a sandbox but in the end, if it's fun..who cares?
I don't expect it to be greatly expanded from GW in that respect, but I could be wrong. That's an assumption I'm making. I do expect it to be fun. I love Guild Wars. I never really got too deep into the final game for some reason, but I've actually purchased it twice, along with a couple of the expansions. I was in love with it from the moment I played the original beta, so I'm hoping they do a nice big beta again. One thing I remember fondly about the original is how much it changed in the duration of the beta. It grew so much, from gameplay to graphics to.. well.. everything!

Do want beta NOW. Did you read the thing about how they're getting rid of the tank/dps/heal mechanic in this game? All the everyquest players are crying about it, but I applaud them for trying something new.

Holyshit. Ranger looks hot. Such good skills. Lol the hunters call.

Hot wallpaper at the bottom too, with the ranger + pet cat. Fucking love artwork for GW2, so good.

Rangers pwn, loved play Hunter in WoW! Having pets is fun. Will be hard to decide what class to choose Ranger or if they also have Necromancer as first game :D

Not enough customization to keep me interested in the first. EVERY body is running around all wearing the same crap and your only option to change it is color it with a dye. I also ruined the game by using the special edition command line to give you some pretty good starting weapons. So good that I just kept throwing away every drop for the first 20 hours which made it boring as well. Not to say I will not give this one a try though. I am always up for new things.

Sweetness. I really can't wait for this game. One of my most anticipated upcoming games for sure. I really hope they announce some beta details soonish. I'm really impressed by the chances they appear to be taking with this game. They have a huge fan base that they risk losing if they don't play their cards correctly, and they're delivering something that seems completely new. Really impressed.

Would this work on PlayStation 3 by the way? Since it's not subscription based which would make it easier to implement. I am not even going to mention Xbox 360 because MS is such an a** when it comes to MMOs on its consoles and its unwilingness to give up control.

I've always wondered why they didn't do a console port of GW. It's actually relatively simple compared to most MMORPG's. But.. yeah.. I sorta doubt that it's going to see the light of day on consoles. That would be a pretty huge effort and Arenanet has a big audience on the PC already. It could happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I hope GW2 runs well on more modest PC's (my PC will be modest by the time it comes out). The first game scales well and I have to say it's still beautiful even today.

NCsoft had that deal with Sony to release future MMOs on the PS3, but I believe that contract has been canceled. They had one game in development prior to cancellation. They still say they want to do console games, but so far it's all just talk. I think they're waiting to see how XIV and DC Heroes does on the PS3.

FF14 should do pretty well, but I don't think that's a fair benchmark for how other console MMO's will perform. Squaresoft sorta has the benefit of getting it right the first time.
