Jeez, that's like half a days work to read through, I've just skimmed it for a moment, but this looks like it's going to be one HELL of a game...
Good bye social life!

Necrobumping this thread.

Who got the game? I bought the game and will be at the headstart. Still deciding between playing a Ranger or a Thief.

I didn't buy into the pre-ordering for sparse beta and stress test events, but I will definitely be buying it. I may miss the head start so I can grab a discount on GMG.

I'll be going to Indonesia for a month in about 2 weeks. So I'll join in at the second week of October (I think Iso is also jumping in then)

GW2 is really amazing, as far as I know, the selling figure is over 1 million, that's a big contrast to The Secret World.

I am having a lots of fun with the game but... I am disappointed they got rid of the dual class system. Also I am not sure if I really like the skill system this game has. First 5 skills are tied on what weapon you use, so basically you can't build your own skill set anymore. Also missions so far have been more boring than in original GW (these pick up missions are just wtf). Maybe it gets better, I am still at the starting area.

Report back. I'd like to hear more impressions. I'm pretty certain I am going to pick it up, but it's not a top priority this week. I'd like to know if you think the PvE stuff improves. I would be a bit disappointed if that weren't a solid portion of the game. I play FPS for PvP :D

I bought it as well. First MMO I've been so excited about in a long time. I was actually going to consider getting back into Wow, recovered my pre battle.net account and everything, and then a friend told me about Guild Wars 2. I'm going to be playing it with some friends, and will likely play with folks on here when I get a chance :)

Ok, I finally decided to give this game a try and bought it.
First of all I had very low expectations, as GW 1 never really was my cup of tea.

I took 3 chars to about lvl 10 so my experience is still quite limited, but I have to admit it's damn fun.

The combat system is kind of a trade between Tera's and typical tab-target, and it works flawlessly. It actually is better than Tera's because you can move while casting and channeling (even melee) and most ranged attacks are fire-and-forget. Area attacks are aimed at ground with mouse.

Anyway, what really stands out is they actually managed to brake (Finally!) the Everquest formula mold. I'm playing with a similar mindset of, saying, Elder Scroll. I just wander around exploring (maps are HUGE) and partecipating in dynamic events.
The amount of content available is incredible and very diverse. I lost track of my XP bar like only happens to me with single player games. Big amount of Xp is given with exploration, and maps are very cleverly designed with this goal in mind.

If I had to describe GW2 in 2 words I'd say Fresh and Fun.

Oh, and a big plause to Anet artists. Visuals are great, albeit not High-end like Tera's from a technical standpoint.

Well, biggest difference from GW1 is now only personal story progression is instanced. During events there's no need to group as rewards are given based on each player contribution.
I personally never liked the use of instancing in GW1 so this is a huge improvement for me. The feeling of combat is immensely better as well.

Actually GW2 has very little in common with its predecessor.

Quoi de neuf ?
  • Driftwood
