It gets rediculously difficult. I turned it off and grabbed my real guitar to practice some tabs instead.

Never bothered to learn tabs before actually, but now I figure I might aswell, given the alternative.

I still don't know if this game is worth the 80 bucks...

I mean after you finished this game, the guitar is useless..

You won't just "finish the game" though. There are 70 songs in there, and in order to get to them you must finish each difficulty level. Now, like I stated before it gets rediculously hard, so I doubt you'll stop playing this game any time soon.

It's totally worth the price, and when Rock Band comes out you'll be able to use this guitar for it. Add to that the promise of "the most DLC of any 360 game" and this'll most likely last long enough for you to reckon it was worth the price.

I felt the same way. Well, technically I didn't buy it. It was just an impulse purchase gift...But I can say that its definately worth getting. I can't imagine not having it now. Really addictive.

Now, what is this Rock Band you speak of? I've heard bits and peices of info about it. Online rock band maybe? Allowing you and a group of friends to form a band? Possibly allowing me to be the new Jimi Hendrix of the XBL world?

There's also a PC homebrew game (Frets and Fire -- or something) compatable with the controller FireWire, so it's not completely useless. They will also be compatable with "Rock Band."

It's still a pretty hefty price but I think it's more or less in line with other games w/ specialty controllers. I'd really love to pick it up myself but I might wait til I can find a good deal on it..

Just a faulty patience over here. I get so mad at this game sometimes that I just wanna smash the guitar, rockstar style. It doesn't help that I managed to catch a glimpse of Konami's Guitar Freaks controller (older than Harmonix dabbling in the territory) and noticing that only has 3 fret buttons! FIGURES!

I'm up on hard mode now and what's thrown my way is essentially moving tabs, more or less real moving tabs as in.. I could just aswell - as stated above - learn how to play the song I'm playing on a real guitar instead.

With three frets it's all second nature and the game does the rest, but with more than that the real challenge is finger coordination more than anything, which is sort of throwing me for a little "is this really a successful game?" spin.

Done spinning I always return to it though, and I am getting better. I prolly would rather have it Konami style where the game gets insanely hard but you essentially already know where your fingers are going, but sliding around the neck hitting the right fret buttons has its appeal too.

It's just that sometimes it seems to share that appeal with actually playing a real guitar.

The jump in difficulty from medium to hard is huge. I'm pretty masterful at medium (except for friggin madhouse!) but that damn orange button. Just need to learn how to slide your hand uo and down the guitar.

Not only does the orange button make things insanely more difficult, they also want you to "hammer", which means they expect you to slide around on one note back and forth over the fret buttons.

Now that's all good and fine on a real guitar because strings are all smooth like, but here it's like massaging all over the face buttons on a gamepad for entire paragraphs.

AAAARGHHH!! Pisses me off to no end. I should've just gotten the Beatmania controller and game instead. At least there's no strumming and sliding going on there.

Disclaimer: I'm just pissed off right now and I'll prolly feel differently in about an hour or two.

I try to just stick to medium, the game is really fun on that setting, hard on expert makes me angrier than losing at Marvel vs Capcom 2 against one of my buddies.
