Just finished my first run through of the Just Cause demo..overall I'm a little underwealmed. Seems like it may be fun though, but the demos difficulty is turned down so low that it takes most of the fun out of shooting people--I mean, they're firing at me, but I can barely tell..even when a helo is in chase...

Vehicle controls sorta suck, they're not horrible but there's basically nothing to it and they could handle a lot better--I would have been satisfied if they performed a bit like GTA or Saints Row cars--but they don't..they're mostly slow and the handling is rather..clunky.. the various stunt possitions are atleast somewhat interesting--the parachute is okay. Helo controls are no better, though the game looks it's best when you're above the treeline..

Which brings me to the graphics..ew. Horrible (lacking of) proper texture filtering, horribly low poly models (both the people, and the vehicles) and ATROCIOUS use of motion blur--which you can turn off--but I'm not sure if it's any better without--atleast the post effects help hide the ugly.

Could be a fun game, all in all, lacking demo..atleast the treeline pop-in isn't as bad as the original TDU demo...

"Total Overdose without the soul"--sounds about right.

Now, off to try the new TDU demo.

I thought this was better than Saints Row, so I think that the game is good, BUT this is not a game I would buy.

As always no game manages to match gta. Rockstar has this genre on lock pretty much.

The demo was the letdown of the century. Enemies come out of nowhere. Guerillas, police, military, everywhere! You can't even get far in the helicopter without getting shotdown. And you can't defend yourself from what you can't see. The camo and shadows hide your enemies in the jungle, and the enemy helicopters can shoot you down from very far away. I was dissappointed by the demo, immensely. Its structure was terrible, and I don't know whether mission issues were design flaws or demo limitations. Just to be safe, I'm renting this game first.

Geeze, I thought it was really fun. the over the top nature of the gameplay made it for a different experience than a GTA or saint row. The graphics were really nice, save for the character models, but there was a ton of pop up. It needed work, but it seems like it could be really fun.

Have to say I disagree, in terms of gameplay Saints Row is way better than this..graphics, too. Though I don't really see the comparison..I suppose it is sort of like a poor mans Mercenaries though.

Mixed impressions on Just Cause, very mixed. Some forums just love it and others dont get it... Damn that I dont have my 360 connected right now so that I can see what the big deal is...

I just played the demo and I think it's fantastic much better than Saints Row. The graphics look awesome but i have a HD tv so that might be the reason. Vehicle handling can be tricky but I managed to get the hand of things. Overall, I really like it and I think it might get it.

Funny, I was thinking that perhap some people thought this game had good graphics because they DIDN'T have an HDTV..HD generally brings out the ugly and that's certainly the case here. I don't see it--where's the awesome? Muddy, ugly textures, low as it gets poly counts, and abusive use of motion blur to try to hide it all--yes, these are some nice next gen visuals indeed.

The only thing i didnt like about this demo is the way it sticks you right in the middle of a mission and it took me five attempts at the parachute start lol

But after that i thought it was great and itll be a definate buy :D

Look you obviously dont like the game so let's just be done with it. I like the graphics and didnt think the textures look ugly, if you do that's you opinion and I respect that.

Saints Row is like GTA San Andreas with the whole "gangsta" stuff, and I hope it. But Just Cause got more El Mariachi feeling, thats why I like it more.

It has a bit of a learning curve that is well worth persevering past in my opinion.

I can't wait to get my hands on the full game and waste hours creating my own stunts! :)

Oh in that respect, I can see how someone might prefer Just Cause..if you're really turned off by the wangsta apeal of Saints Row--and I can't say I blame you for it--the game intentionally tries to be offensive..which is, in a way..sort of offensive--but despite that it still handles a whole lot better than this mess--the controls, the graphics, everything down to the combat is just better. And as Terra said--it's if the game is fun that matters--and gameplay matters more then setting when it comes to fun.

I'm glad to learn that this is a cheap port up. The different stunt possitions are a little wacky, but are also probably the most interesting thing in the demo.

Denjin: You can turn off the motion blur in the menu..though it's sort of hard to say which looks better--the blur does sort of help to hide some of the other flaws.

Yeah, I like the feeling of this game, too. Graphics I thought were nice as well despite the popup and the somewhat low poly characters. I agree they should cut down a bit on the motion blur, though! Also take note that the game world is HUGE, and so the low poly count and not so great textures are excusable.
These types of games still aren't my cup of tea, but I enjoyed the little run through of the demo.

You can turn off the motion blur from the settings --> video menu.

All I am saying is that, I rather go with Just Cause than games like GTA San Andreas or Saints Row, it appeals more to me than those kind of games. I think the graphics are quite good, and the special moves like stunts, air diving...etc. are awesome way to expand the gameplay.

But, would I buy this game?
No, I would not, because once I finish the game, I dont see any replay value to it.

Has anyone manged to hijack one the helos ( I'm not referring to the one parked the heli-pad), here's a clue jump off the viewing platform at the top of the hill (accesed via the bridge),and if you get lucky you might bag yourself a helo. Just try to avoid flying into a hill within 15 secs of grabbing it like I did.

I have done it twice. I was on my regular chopper and went into stunt position, then I jump off and I was lucky to dodge the bullets in the air without parachute (think of Ryu Hayabuas video clip in DOA4) and then I grabbed the chopper and jumped in.

The other time was just a regular stunt move, chopper to chopper.
