By the way Shepherd is definitely alive.

Did he die in other people's games?

Cause at the end when you know what took place regarding Sovereign, my Shepherd stood up and limped out.

I'm pretty certain that Kaiden's death will have major consequences on the second game. There is something very important that was going on with him, but I never bothered to really find out or maybe it wasn't possible to find out because they were saving that stuff for the second game.

lol I regretted so badly that I let the council die so Ioaded back up my save game and saved them this time.

I felt much better about myself afterwards. Afterall, what's the point of doing something so utterly awesome if the very ruling represenatives don't have an opportunity to stay alive long enough to see me do it?

They wouldn't have been there in part 2 telling me how awesome I was. I also like the thought my rep being solidified with the current council for mass effect 2. I would have far less respect for whatever the new council ended up being, even with Anderson in it.

A part of me regrets that I didn't have enough charm to get through to Saren though and have him kill himself instead so he could come to his senses at the last minute. He did have good intentions, although a very twisted way of trying to accomplish them. Then again, I sorta like the thought of me having fought and killed Saren on my list of accomplishments.

One of the major things they have to fix for Mass Effect 2 though, besides some of the useless and cookie cutter side quests is the inventory system as it relates to weapon and armor upgrades.

I hate to have to go through such trouble just to clear some room by getting rid of items I don't want. It would be nice if they were organized from best to worst and they used a x10, x20 reference to let us know how many of them we had as opposed to multiple versions of the same thing being scattered all across inventory. Also... please don't force us to have to start from the beginning of the list after we've just turned something to omni-gel. So annoying to have to travel back down the list. It would also be great if we could always perform a full comparison of our entire party (including ones not currently apart of the 3 man team) That way it's easier to pick up weapons and other such things for them.

Obviously if someone isn't in the current 3 man team you shouldn't be able to change their gear, but it would be nice if I were able to at least perform a comparison.

Definitely in the top 3 best games this gen.

I'd like for them to release another book before Mass Effect 2. Felt sorry for Kaiden on Vimire. I chose the chick over him and it was kinda messed up too cause he always seemed so damn down to earth, but also seriously screwed up in the head that you suspected you'd have to help him in a big way later on. Hopefully I have a chance to fully find out what his deal was in part 2.

I felt no remorse in killing Saren as he was himself a cold blooded killer, so you sow so you shall reep!, as for Kaiden he really just jarred the hell out of me, and it was a pleasure to leave his ass behind on Vimire!, although i do believe you are correct in saying he may have a big part to play in ME2?, the inventory has to be fixed as thats one of the first things they addressed in the pc version and i expect that they will be tweaking it further for ME2.

There is another book its called Mass Effect: Ascension its a bit short but still a good read.

I have different saves, I assume--and hope--that we'll get to pick which save to transfer?

I have my regular, in which I played how I truly felt I should play.

Then I played the game again with the same character, this time being a total asshole. So I'd rather get the first save, I really hope I did not overwrite it.

Ouch, hope you have the save. I could only imagine what a total disgrace whatever newly formed Human Led council might look like.

The good news is that Anderson would most likely have A LOT more sway, but I also have a strange feeling that it would end up putting his life in grave danger. Accusations would be rampant that the death of the council was a human plan all along and that we had something to do with the Reapers.

I have a strange feeling that Kaiden may very well have been a reaper stay behind.

I don't know what it is about the mass effect 2 teaser, but I may play nothing but Mass Effect over and over and over until part 2 comes out.

I saved that race, will they now be my allies???????
Hudson wouldn't cite any specific examples of decisions, but spoke vaguely about how your past choices will affect the events of Mass Effect 2. "[Let's say] in Mass Effect 1, you decided that a really important character is going to die. In Mass Effect 2, you may or may not see that character alive, depending on what that choice was. If you want to see how that would be different, you would have to go back to Mass Effect 1, make a different choice and then bring that save into Mass Effect 2 to see how it affects the world." More important than a single character, at one point in the first Mass Effect, you chose whether or not to save an entire race from extinction. That is sure to have a profound affect in the sequel. "The fun for players is that it's not just a branching story, it's a multi-dimensional story and then there is branching within that. If you have not played Mass Effect 1, you can jump into Mass Effect 2 and it's an excellent entry point."

While it's a bit premature for Hudson to give too many specific gameplay improvements, he did touch on one area BioWare is giving particular attention. "[People] like exploring the galaxy so much, they wanted it to be richer. They wanted there to be more. When you go out and explore the galaxy, we've actually built in a lot more interactivity. The way you look at a planet, the way you find a place to land. And when you're out on the surface, [there's a] lot more interesting things to do. In Mass Effect 1, you would do a subplot and then things would terminate. In Mass Effect 2, everything you do really ties into the way things come into fruition in the end. If you do go off and explore the galaxy, you do a subplot, these things start to really matter to the people you are accumulating on your ship. As you get towards the end [of the game], your decisions really start to snowball."

Has ANYBODY chosen the ambassador over Anderson at the end of the ME1? The thought of that is so screwed up it's almost as bad as one of the possible endings of Jade Empire (you let your Master kill you). But for ME2's frame story it might give it an interesting twist (on a personal level with Anderson).

No way in hell I would ever choose that scum undine over Anderson. My memory is not perfect, but Undine might have been rather impressive in terms of ambition in the book, but when push came to shove in the game, he chose not to believe what Sheperd was trying to warn him about and foolishly grounded the Normandy.

BlackHawk, I ALSO saved that race :D

I couldn't bring myself to kill it especially because it's words seemed undeniably sincere about their real intentions. It further helped when the queen told me that the Rachni in the hot labs were beyond saving and should be disposed of. The whole stuff about the singing really tugged at the heart strings :P

Although, I also secretly worry that while they have good intentions as a species, something beyond their control caused them to nearly exterminate all life and it may happen again in the future, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. Perhaps they could have been manipulated at one point by the Reapers. I guess I won't know till I play part 2. I also have strong concerns that they can be used to somehow provide an opening for the Reapers.

For all I kno, they could end up being by far the most susceptible organic species to Reaper Indoctrination. It would further explain why there is such a massive disconnect between the fairly peaceful Queen in comparison to what her species did in the past.

It's been so long since my first playthrough - and that character is the one I shall be using in ME2. I think I probably saved that race in the end, as I set out with the intention to be 'good'.

Although, there's also a big chance I may have pwned their arses.

I've so far got 5 different characters ready for ME2, each using a different class, some are good, some evil, others are mixes. I've tried to make them as different from each other as possible, problem is I hate a certain sentinel more than any other character in the game and I'm having trouble finding a reason for them being in ME2.

I'm thinking about trying other playthroughs, but I'm nervous -- extremely nervous -- about potentially losing my save.

Is it possible on the same gamertag to start a new game and not lose all your saves from your previous game?

I really REALLY don't want to lose my save. Should I create a new gamertag to be on the safe side or what?

As far as I'm aware, each of your ME characters have their own save 'sections'. I started a new character so that I could play through the game differently, and when I went to load it back up I had the option of choosing which ME character I wanted to load.

So, to answer your question, you can start a new game and not lose all your saves from your previous game. No need to worry.

Thank god. I want to beat the game with Shepherds actual profile.

I chose to be the guy who was the only survivor out of many who were massacred and the who had his parents killed by slavers on a colony planet.

This time I'm going to choose EarthBorn.

Bring It!!
A whole load of info about Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360, PC) has apparently been leaked from an OXM interview with developer Bioware. Since we haven't seen a hard copy yet, let's treat this as a rumor for the time being.

Among the details revealed in the OXM feature is confirmation that Commander Shepard is alive and well -- for a goodly chunk of the game anyway. Whether or not Shepard survives until the end is still up in the air. Here's a summation of the details:

You will play as Shepard, but for how long is unknown.

There is a new species called the Drell and Thane is a new character who is an assassin and may join your party.

Planets - There will be a Krogan planet, and Illium, an Asari planet, that is like Coruscant from SW. Also there is “Omega” with is like an anti-Citadel in that it’s huge and it’s the bottom of the barrel whereas the Citadel is the height of civilization.

Also a Cerebus mothership will act as a location of significance.

Story - The ultimate story is still civilization fending off the Reapers, but this chapter will deal with this Cerebus corporation and it’s enigmatic leader. There are human civilizations disappearing and it’s up to Shepard to investigate, it’s termed as a “suicide mission” which may lead to the details of the teaser.

New vehicle that controls better than the Mako…a “new” control scheme.

Totally revamped inventory system.

Elevator system revamped where you will get the sense of scope of where you’re at and where you’re traveling.

No more texture pop in.

Secondary races like Volus and Elcor are much more mobile, giving more depth and makes things more interesting.

Choices are more meaningful and there is a real risk that major support characters (i.e. anyone not Shepard) can and will die.

Also on the story, they’re super-hyping the ending, saying that it’s much more grand meaningful in ME2.

More weapons, more species, more/new team members.

returning team members, locations, weapons.

The feature also mentioned new DLC for the original Mass Effect (Xbox 360, PC). It wasn't detailed as much as the sequel, but Bioware is in the process of finishing it up. The DLC will supposedly be "the last thing between Mass Effect 1 and 2 in terms of content."

Those details sound very exciting!!!

Easily one of my favorite games this gen man. Glad they re-worked the inventory system and I'm glad they did some work on the elevators. Cerebus kept receiving much mention in the first game. Not surprised to hear they may have a much bigger role in the sequel.
