Apparently, stats for the character have been reset to basic abilities so that an improved system could be implemented, but to compensate for the lack of prowess, his storyline will delve into the reasons why he is weaker than before.
“There’s something that’s happening with the story that explains what happens with your abilities,” said Hudson. “It’s something we can’t go into detail about for obvious reasons, but it actually happens the other way around. Our goal with the story, in terms of getting the game started quickly and players into really compelling story situations…that dictated and allowed us to do certain things including changing the way that your abilities work and the way you develop your character.

So Shepard not only loses all of his/her biotic abilities, but he's/she's also forgotten how to SHOOT! And this is is going to somehow be explained with some story plot dynamic?! I understand the need to be inclusive for new gamers, but for fuck sake Bioware, was all of the character transitioning talk bullshit?!! :P
I don't understand why Bioware can't employ a two-tier approach to ME2. The rookies who've never picked up ME1..............let THEM start with no skills and no gear. Let us ME veterans start ME2 with a more difficult game setting, a respectable skill level with no required unlockables for previously mastered skills and at least our Spectre gear.
I suppose the next obvious question is what happens to your Paragon or Renegade status? Do those get erased as well? If so then I ask again, what was the point of transitioning your game saves? Bioware is seriously about to mess this whole game save thing up.
He does mention that in the interview, but it's not clear. Doesn't sound like it's zapped entirely though.

i dont like it at all, it's just so...bland. it could have done with something that looked designed FOR the box art, rather then the "we just threw on some of our artwork we had in a draw" look.
in both cases (ME1 and ME2) i dont think they should show the face of shepard seeing as you can customise him. but that's just me.
Prepare To Drop!!
the best box arts for me are the ones that dont stand out like sore thumbs. the ones that look like some thought had been put into them.
burnout paradise stands out as nice box art to me, as does the sabataur box art.
bad ones are the cod series, and anything else with cheesy runing towards 'camera' yelling type illustrations.
@BHODST - i've just fisnished a degree in graphic design, i care about this sort of stuff, and i judge it in the same way i do any type of graphic design or promotional material, some of it is good, some of it blows. it doesnt have any bearing on whether i like or disslike a game. but i DO see it as something worth commenting on. especially if it falls into the "blows" catagory
