They gave KOTOR 9/10.
The only real criticism that can be levelled at Knights of the Old Republic is that, particularly towards the end of the game, it all feels fairly easy, but then this is a game that's designed to be experienced rather than conquered, and lightsaber wielding Jedi aren't supposed to find things difficult.
So the insane framrate drops and texture pop-ins that KOTOR suffered from were not a REAL criticism back then i guess.

There getting listed in the NeoGaf and Bioware forum threads, i have never heard of most of them either, but that's because i only go to a few select gaming sites, not because they are not good or well known?.
No, basically a lot of the reviews you posted are from small sites.. that doesn't mean they're bad reviews, I'm just say'n, I've never heard of them.

And I have to laugh at the Edge bashing.. so typical.

When we finished Mass Effect the first time, the very next thing we did was start it all over again. It's clear that this is the beginning of a fantastic franchise, and we're already salivating over the possibilities for "Mass Effect II."

Edge is a complete joke giving out a 9 to Crysis and a 7 to ME. Crysis plays like your everyday shooter with a few aditional "strengths" and amazing graphics, by no means a bad game. But Mass Effect is evolving the RPG genre and takes a new approach on storytelling and despite all the new things still having rock solid gameplay and an amazing story and they gave it a 7?

and have you...

2) Played both games?

and do you...

3) Understand that they're probably written by two separate people?

Additionally, many critics have stated that Crysis does not play like your "everyday shooter" -- although the more harsh criticism involves how it eventually takes a nosedive in the latter part of the game.

I think the Edge score is ridiculous. It's not because of what Crysis got, or what COD4 got, it's how a game like Mass Effect can be put right next to a game like Silent Hill, Hellgate, and Timeshift. Basically, they are too easy on the game they should be hard on.

But I really don't care, on Gameranking it is at 93%, and that is about right, that is the game I'm playing.

I guess this is a game that I really don't care that much about the scores. For smaller games, good scores can provide enough sales to fund a developer for toehr projects. Bioware really isn't in that situation. The reviews will almost have no impact on sales.

All of those games got sixes so it doesn't exactly put them on the same level, does it?

You can't pretend you expected as low as score as that? Surely not. I think on friday I shall purchase the mag and read this review. Im very interested on why they gave it a 7.

I didn't expect it, but I still think the immediate knee-jerk reaction to the score is pretty ridiculous. It's sorta standard fair to attack a critic when you don't see eye to eye with their abstract, numerical value of a game you're anticipating though.

I bought that mag for years and years, till they sold thee sell to the devil and just filled most of it with advertising
I dont want to pay to read adverts

Plus there really not as good as they used to be, i highly rated them at one time.
