Ok. I am obviousy not making myself clear to everyone. I will try one more time. I had thought that by denying it, I was, well, denying it. But I am obviously not making myself clear.
We do not yet have a release date. That means any projected date you read anywhere other than this site is incorrect.
To take this one further step, this means that the September release date you are all talking about is not correct. Currently we do not have a release date for September. If you read a release date for May, it is not correct. We do not have a release date for May. Same for June, July, August, October, November, December and all of 2008 (just to be very clear).
I have said this in the past (if you doubt, please try the search feature), but I will say it again just to be, again, very clear. The project is not delayed. Everything is going well. Are there bugs or problems still? Yes, there always are at this stage of production. Are they being fixed? Yes, they are being fixed as they always are at this stage of production. Are we done yet? No, but work is continuing. Are you on track? Yes, we are on track.
So, hopefully this time I have been extremely clear.

Quotes:
So how good will the graphics actually be?
There was some discussion here about which screenshot most represents what the final game will look like. The best answer is that you can expect the game to look at least as good as the best screenshots we’ve released - and there’s a pretty logical reason for this: the really nice shots are the ones where you’re seeing the engine and art looking the way they were meant to be in the final game. **Ha Luv It!**
Some background, for whoever is interested in behind-the-scenes stuff… Most often, we (the dev team) are in the middle of major construction. So as you would expect on a construction site, things are constantly broken, the place is a mess, and as we start finishing up we can do the cleaning and polish that make things look the way they’re supposed to. Still, we like to give people a look at how things are shaping up, so this is just one of the perils in showing a work in progress.
And even more behind-the-scenes… One interesting aspect of this question is that the Xbox 360 offers a different challenge than we had on the PC or even the original Xbox, through a seemingly innocent difference: the development Xbox 360 units have the same memory as retail ones. In our previous console development, and certainly on the PC, we often have twice the memory on our dev machines as on the final retail machines. So first you throw in everything you want the game to have, and then you figure out how to make it all fit in a space half the size. So developing graphics for those previous platforms is easy at first, but you can end up having to downgrade your graphics to squeeze it all onto the system. On the Xbox 360 however, players get a beefy 512MB of memory to play in, but us developers don’t get any extra room beyond that. So the reverse happens: we first make the most basic graphics fit within memory, and then we upgrade the visuals as we optimize the game. We’re also constantly tuning the art and the renderer to gradually improve the overall quality. Therefore you can actually expect the final game to look better than we’ve ever shown it. **HE he he ***
We’re seeing some pretty cool things in the daily game builds lately. A few days ago we played for about an hour on the Citadel, with the majority of the sequence looking and playing at exceptional quality. Intense conversational drama flows into atmospheric exploration, and then to explosive shootouts, showcasing the quality standard we’ve been trying to reach since the beginning of the project.
How good will “Mass Effect” be, on a scale between Awesome and 10?
It’s actually being carefully turned up to 11.
Does this game have subtitles turned-on all time?
No. We plan to release the game with subtitles defaulted to “off”, because now that the player character (and everyone else) has full voice-over, it’s getting close enough to a film-like experience that we want players to enjoy the game with the least amount of text and interface obscuring the view. But, of course you can turn subtitles on if that’s your preference.
