New Witcher 2 - Announced coming to the Xbox360

No, I bought Witcher during a steam sale 2 or 3 years ago. I made it to chapter 3 but uninstalled it because there was just way too much backtracking going on. I mean half the time I was just walking from one area to another (the main hub in chapter 3 is huge and the forest outside it even bigger!) and the game didn't even have a speed run ability so I uninstalled it. I mean it was a good game and everything and the story was getting better but the backtracking totally killed it for me.

I thought about going back to it before Witcher 2's release but sadly the save file was no where to be found (mainly because I switched the computer :P).

Honestly if I were you, I'd just skip to Witcher 2, the game doesn't have THAT much backtracking and the graphics are sweet. The DoF effect is INCREDIBLE (had in game Steam option disabled for BF2 comparability so didn't really get the chance to take pictures from the beginning of the game...the first main town is beautiful!)

This is the config I used, if your video card has more than 1 GB of VRAM set texture memory budget to 1000. :D Aside that the game looks really ugly with bloom lighting so turn that off

That's real shitty advice there, Doom Bringer. Out of the two games i still think the first Witcher is the better game all in all. The second has better graphics but that's about it. The first game has a more engaging story, more side quests and better systems for pretty much everything imo. Sure it has it's flaws as well but it's more of an old school type of RPG.

yea I guess the story in the first one was somewhat engaging but the backtracking really killed any interest from solidifying. I'd rather go to the gym, read a book, cook a nutritious meal or study something rather than waste time back-tracking in a video game. :/

You remember the "super fast" run ability in Knights of the Old Republic? Witcher 1 needed that badly....Witcher 2 doesn't have that much back tracking and I think the character run speed was increased as well

Well I wasn't going to take it, anyway. I still intend to try to get through The Witcher before attacking the sequel.. hopefully yet this summer.

well make sure you post your impressions once you get done with chapter 3 (of Witcher 1). BTW the game is also extremely hard, I am pretty sure I had to use "trainers" to get through a particular bossfight in chapter 3...

I also beat Witcher 2 on easy :/ (even then it was hard! Especially this one boss fight )

I hope I actually get to it soon. The problem with playing some games (online FPS, sometimes fighters, etc) almost indefinitely, is that it makes it hard to clear out the campaign stuff in your backlog. Games like The Witcher are intimidating things to pick up when you're looking at 50+ hours (or hundreds for some RPG's!). There are too many damn games.

Well I agree with you 100% on that, I like short games, 10-15 hour games are awesome and satisfying. I feel guilty playing long RPG's especially since I am unemployed at the moment and not really engaged academically :/

I am kinda glad Witcher 2 was short lol...but yea my Steam backlog is huggeee!! I need to finish STALKER soon, that game was getting better and better (I just got through lab X16 two weeks ago...those underground areas are creepy as fuck)

Err, no it's not. You must be playing it wrong. Once you get past the swamp it's way too easy overall. Just torch them fuckers with your Igni sign, then cut them down with your sword. See with a certain upgrade igni adds like 50% to all your damage when the foe is incinerated. Plus the additional DOT damage. Down a swallow and a thunderbolt and you become a certified killing machine. Also, don't forget to upgrade your swords with the runes you get, it helps quite a bit.

Honestly, all you need is Quen, its ridiculously overpowered when maxed out.

Oh man, it's too bad you didn't get to finish Witcher 1. Awesome story, out-of-nowhere future plot twist last section. Your previous decisions like Princess Adda are mentioned, you get to import weapons and the Raven armour.

That's the worst goddamn spewing of BS i ever heard. "We want to make it feel native to the 360", yeah well you did a pretty damn good job with that on the PC version as well, you twat. What could they possibly need to fix? The game already plays like it was designed around a 360 pad!

I tried to play the pc version with my 360 controller and it was unplayable, very unresponsive and laggy (not sure if any of the more recent updates have fixed that?) then switched the keyboard and mouse and it was a much better experience, so i guess that is something they can optimize for 360 vers, but i agree the interface and UI where def built with the 360 in mind, much like Skyrim seems to be, no biggie for me as i'll be getting both for the 360, as my pc is very flaky.

Skyrim's UI looks more KBM friendly than the last several Bethesda games at least.

CD Projekt RED and GOG.com will be jointly streaming their international portions of the CDP Fall 2011 conference via Ustream video feed at 6:00 PM Warsaw time (4:00 pm GMT, 12:00 noon EDT, or 9:00 PDT) on Thursday 22 September at <487c>http://www.ustream.tv/channel/cd-projekt. GOG.com will be discussing their performance in 2011 and revealing new developments. CDP RED will be showing off the new features of The Witcher 2 version 2.0 live for the very first time, followed by a live gameplay demonstration of The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360. Last but not least, there is also an official unveil of the box art for the title scheduled to take place on that day.

GOG.com will open the show with a quick review of what they’ve accomplished in 2011, and then they will talk about what’s coming for the rest of 2011, and maybe even hint at some of what’s coming in 2012!

Question

I saw the latest 360 video and it had light beams through trees, i think this is on PC high setting

Could this mean 360 runs W2 in a mix of medium and high PC setting ?
(like a custom configuration with some effects of high)
