I do think Sega deserves some cred for their in house stuff still.
Their publishing business is rooted in one thing alone - profits. Shit games sell too.
And they deserve a lot of credit for their in house stuff still, AM2 alone demands credit.
I guess i'll go have a look on IGN. :P

But one of the major problems I have with the english translation of this game is that they tailored the voice acting to be another GTA, italian, "WHATDAFUKYALOOKINAT?!" mobster game, simply because of the subject of the game. The simple vernacular of the game is so different simply based upon the culture that's almost insulting to do things this way.
I know this game is good. While I haven't finished it (due to the language barrier), I've played about 2 or 3 hours in, in japanese.
The best thing Sega could have possibly done was leave in the japanese script and just add subtitles. But, as I said before, SOA missed the fucking point, as I'm sure many others will too.
I heard that micheal Madson is doing the dub along with a bunch of other goodfellows former actors in addition to Resevior dogs. If true, I see no point in buying this game. It's not longer about the Yakuza, as such a dub will make it no different than the usual new jersey mobsters that everyone tunes in on sundays on HBO to watch.
Perhaps it may sound like simple bitching to you, but if you know the difference between the cultures, you'll know that this is simply work done to make less cultured gamers feel less challanged by having a game in foreign language.
And honestly, if one hand of Sega is torpedoing the other, why should I be excited about anything that has the potiential to be good coming out of that firm?
I still think it retains it's Japaneseness even though the scripting is a little off.
Considering i don't like ganster games i'm quite impressed with this one.
I want Blue Dragon more than Optimus .... mwah ha ha ha ha ha..

Mesoian, it sounds to me like you're over-reacting to a very overstated problem with this game--a mistake with the translation of Yakuza is not the end-times sort of mistake for Sega to make--they've made worse mistakes, and decades ago too--and they've still released plenty of quality titles despite it. If you can't see that, than yeah, give up on Sega..go for it.
Like I said before, if it takes more than great games to get you excited about great games, perhaps it's not really Sega's fault. I'm not about to swear off Nintendo just because they won't import Mother 3 at all.
