This looks surprisingly nice from a graphical and artistic point of view.

I'm still concerned the game play is guna turn out crap.

Nice to see small details such as clothing and armor changing during cutscenes, too many RPG's over look this for some reason.

I feel like all these Tri-Ace rpgs coming out this gen are just from a company spread too thin. None of them match a quality title and certainly come nowhere near the FF franchise.

Their games never were of the same quality as the FF series. I do agree though, their current gen games have been average at best although I did enjoy them despite their flaws.

On PS2, on the other hand, they made some quality stuff like the Valkyrie Profile, Radiata Stories and the PS2 Star ocean games. The 360 Star ocean is medicore, not good at all.

No they were better, just look at stuff like Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile (and i mean in snes and PS1 here). Unfortunately they have been unable to keep the quality up.

Time to revive this thread, beacause oh boy, this game deserves it. Been playing it for the last couple hours on X360. Basically:
Graphics - as shown on screenshots it's nothing special, but it has its "feel" and some locals are really nice. Definetely nowhere close to FFXIII.
Story - not much to say, need more play time
Combat - fucking brilliant. I thought FFXIII had great combat, but this, oh boy, it is tactical, it is smart, it is very reawarding and simply FUN. Bit steep learning curve (took me an hour to go through tutorial) but after couple of fights it's starting to make sense :)
Exploration - world map exploration is really, really interesting. A mini game of its own. Love it so far.

In general: I will finish FFXIII 1st, 'cause I got like 20h played there already, but I CANNOT wait to come back to RoF. I wonder if it looks the same on PS3...
